Any surprise they got a penalty, this was on bbc text earlier:

Football is a funny game.... last Sunday Utd. get a let-off when Noble comes on and misses a penalty.
Today Fernandes took the penalty ahead off Ronalodo* and blazes it over!
*Wasn't the deal Fernandes was going to be on free kicks and Ronaldo on penalties? But I noticed around an hour in Utd. got a free kick in a good scoring position BUT Ronaldo took it and as usual tonked it straight at the wall.
Perhaps that's why Fernandes grabbed the ball for the pen?
