Redmond pulled his arm back, looked a pen to me.

Was it before they went into the box? I only saw Redmond's flailing arm and open palm in the box when Alli fell. Didn't see anything of him pulling alli's arm or shirt. If it's outside the box and didn't cause the trip then I missed it.

Even the bloody commentator doesn't know the ruling re. a genuine attempt to play the ball. Hinchcliffe had to put him right.

To be fair to Dean, where he saw it from, it probably looked like Redmond pulled Alli back. And that IS a red card (not a genuine attempt to play the ball). So, no; not really a brain fuck, going on where he viewed it from. With the benefit of replays, it did look harsh. But he doesn't see the replays.

I understand the new rule but really that call was very harsh, did I also see a little fist pump from Dean over his initial handling of it? It all screams a little bit look at me.

Started just outside the box, looked a tight call to say it carried on inside but it did look like a foul.

Watching this game it confirms to me that it is going to be a very, very tight race for the top 4. None of the teams can afford to stumble. A few poor games or unexpected dropped points will make the difference.

Foul clearly happened outside the box. There was then a slight break before play enters the area. The arm out did not cause him to go down. Yellow card and free kick outside the area

Agreed re. the "harsh" comment. But Dean seems to like giving penalties. Remember the Stoke game early on this season?

If it's a pen then it's definitely a red as he wasn't attempting to play the ball.
