Premier League Games 26/27/28/ Dec

Hasn't that always been the case? Unless it's changed. It shouldn't have been a penalty in my opinion but a correct sending off. We had four goals, 70% possession and 3 times as many shots. Southampton were poor for 80 minutes
Last man has never been part of the rules. It's just a stupid line that crept in from poor pundits somewhere.

An obvious goal scoring opportunity can be denied (which is the actual red card rule) when there are other players beteeen the goal and the foul

It was changed a few years back as it caused confusion (Not that there still aint!) It was changed to deny a goal scoring opportunity. For me, yes he pulled him back well before the area, the foul stopped but Ali continued for a while before falling over and getting a shot away. Suppose it is all about how you view it

It has changed. If the defender brings down the attacker in the box, but it is seen as a genuine attempt to play the ball, a penalty is awarded. But not a red card as a goalscoring opportunity is no longer seen as having been denied (the attacking team has a penalty, don't forget). If the same foul takes place outside the box, a red card can be issued as a penalty can't be awarded. However, if the defender is not deemed to have made a genuine attempt to play the ball (handball on the line, or pulling a player back), he can be sent off, even if the foul has taken place in the box. That's my understanding of the current rule.

I'm still getting used to the offside rule for the last ten years, it's a touchy subject either way. There were arguments all over Twitter and Talksport for Luiz on Aguero some saying Luiz should have been sent off as Aguero was the last man. It sounds like it's all a grey area to me. I can't believe Southampton only lost two games prior in 2016, they weren't at the races at all today

Argument with Luiz is different as what he did was "Intentional"

Luiz should have walked as it was a body check on Aguero, and definitely not a genuine attempt to play the ball.
