That’s not actually correct. The decision system uses 100fps cameras and AI to determine the point at which the pass was made.

The reason it takes so long is because the VAR has to go through a multi step process to validate that all of the outputs look correct before confirming it to the referee.

When you hear “the semi auto offside system is down” or bollocks like that. It’s not actually “down” it’s because the VAR has disagreed with one of the outputs.
