Premier League Games | 27/28/29 Sept '25

There are some weird laws in the game, but I think that one is perfect. If you've not made a genuine attempt to get the ball and you've prevented an obvious goal scoring chance, then you don't deserve leniency.
Is the penalty being awarded classed as a clear goal scoring opportunity still being available?

Think you’re right. Double punishment. They’re given a goal scoring opportunity in the form of a penalty.
Ahh the good old "double jeopardy".
Not as clear cut as it seems - so open to "interpretation" (fiddling)
In this case it should be a red - fouled a player who had a goalscoring opportunity, key here is "without making an actual attempt to play the ball" all he did was pull him.
Not that I give a rats ass since it those cunts who've benefitted far more than any other English club when it comes to dubious (politely) decisions

Yes, you are getting a new goal scoring chance by getting the penalty. Before the law change, you were sent off no matter what. The law change brought in a removal of the double punishment, but only if you made a genuine attempt at the ball. Which is a good change if you ask me.
