Anybody see that game? From the description, it does actually sound as though Armstrong was interfering with play when Saints scored their second. For me “interfering with play” should not mean that you have to have touched the ball. If Armstrong came racing in on the near post, and “flicked out a leg behind him” (as the BBC has it) as the ball came over, there isn't the goalkeeper who wouldn't be wrong footed. Of course, I don't know how close the ball came to his foot. It sounds to me like harsh justice for Saints. But justice nevertheless.

That's been the case with nearly every game we've lost, in my opinion. Nothing could be clearer than that the accumulation of literally several hundred games over the past six seasons or so (a number of them of no interest whatsoever, again in my opinion, obviously), and a lack of a proper summer break for many of them, year after year, has got to them. They can play great for thirty minutes, forty-five minutes. Maybe fifty or sixty. Then you start to see the effect of physical and mental fatigue (which accounts for the repetitive brain farts in defensive midfield and the back line on the part of extremely accomplished players). I'm convinced of this.
Honestly, I'm at this point: I'm close to mentally writing off this season. Would be happy with top four. I'd be astonished if this team suddenly comes good, like other seasons. I don't want Rodri to come back unless he's utterly and totally fit, and his ligaments are fully repaired. I truly don't. Take a season off, man — come back fresh in August. By the same token, I actually hope we get knocked out fairly early in the Club World Cup. Then we reset, Pep resets, we get two or three quality players in the transfer window. Then we go again.

Weird also how he has not officiated a game since our draw at Newcastle in late September. Just been on var since.could be an injury i guess
