Just read a terrific article on the CWC campaign of 1969/70 on the club website. Was a really insightful piece on our nightmare in the previous season's European Cup and how it gave us the determination to go for glory a season later. Arthur Mann and T Taylor made memorable appearances!
A titanic semifinal win against Schalke then Vienna and Gornik. They were full of Polish internationals and relatively unknown. Young and Lee. Torrential rain. Triumph for Mercer and Allison. The trophy presentation was pisspoor obscured by uefa bigwigs and massive umbrellas! Disgraceful that the 2 channel both decided to screen the F A Cup final replay rather than a British triumph in Europe!!!!
Shame it didn't mention us going out of CWC the next season to bleedin chelsea.
Sorry for utterly ignoring the 'football ' being played currently but the European triumph is much more important!
I'd like to conclude by saying the dips are even more anti football than Leicester and soooooo bang average
;-))))))
