most current pundits havent been managers tho tbf, most are ex players who were smart enough to avoid, i think on sky there is only neville and didnt keane briefly have a go
Keane managed for years at Ipswich, Sunderland, Ireland etc. Did alright, but his personality stopped him from succeeding.

Managers don’t need to be pundits as they get paid more. Souness went down the pundit route when his managerial career ended, but most don’t.

I think Neville loses more credibility as a pundit when he talks about the rags than he does in failing as a manager in a different language with a team that was already shit.

I’d only employ pundits who have been managers (and for more than 5 minutes) as well as players.

There are always exceptions, but generally those that have done both offer 10x better punditry and insight.
