Thought the player taking the pen couldn’t follow up to stick it in the net did they not make a rule change on this..

I think it's just if it comes straight back off the post. It's OK if keeper touches it I think.

If another player (99 times out of 100,the keeper) touches it, there's no problem with the taker following up. If it comes back off the woodwork, then no; the taker can't take the next touch.
