What baffles me is why the broadcasting media and especially the commentary team insist on making excuses for the rags?

To be fair, it’s not exactly a difficult, complex strategy.

Step 1: leak public interest in player
Step 2: leak false ridiculous bid for said player
Step 3: wait for Woodward to sign said player for an even more ridiculous fee
Step 4: laugh
