Premier League (midweek) Games 25/26/27 April '23

I thought we (Newcastle) played really well tonight considering the atmosphere at the start of the game. The first part of the job was to silence the crowd and we did that.

Newcastle and Everton don’t get on for some reason. I’ve never liked them since going to their ground and passing some of our fans who’d had their faces slashed by stanley knives or when grown adults tried to beat my son up when he was in his early to mid teens and just wanted to go into a pub to use the toilet, cowards.

We were a bit scrappy in the first half because we weren't really allowed to put too many passes together before an Everton player clattered one of ours with a follow through. I don't blame them as the referee allowed them to do it and even Wilson was clattered after he'd scored his first goal. Joelinton and Bruno were both targeted and Bruno is in danger of missing games because his ankle is shagged and he is in pain when he stands on it, runs or strikes the ball but he wants to play on and might need an operation in the Summer.

The second half was much better after Howe brought fresh legs on and we were clinical again and could have beaten the Spurs scoreline from the weekend.

How did Schar have a goal chalked off? Why wasn’t Burn being offside classed as another phase of play like it always seems to be for Man U?

I still don't know how Longstaff wasn't given a penalty for what looked like a really poor challenge.

Isak looks like he’s going to be some player and has done since his first game against Liverpool, we just need to keep him fit which we seem to be doing by alternating him and Wilson to start and I think that’s great man-management by Howe as their both fit and hungry.

Anyway, I think we’re as good as qualified for the Champions League now, even though we need to pick up more points and I wouldn’t be surprised if we finish as high as 3rd as I think our players will go all out for it. I can't see a game where we'll get beat between now and the end of the season even though I know we can lose at any time.
The tackle on long staff was indeed a penalty. Turned out it didn’t really matter in the end.

Newcastle are having a great season and I know you lot must be enjoying every minute of it. Who’d of thought it eh?

You’ll be on more fantastic journeys with your club as the seasons pass and if your owners run your club well you’ll be up in the higher echelons for years.

You’ll get dogs abuse from the cartel, media, journos, even the league and you’ll love it!

Champions league will be a whole new ride again next year and will really test your squad and how well you recruit.

Always liked the geordie fans, good luck to you and we will see you again next season for another couple of great games. Keep up the good work of not letting the dippers or the scum have it their own way.

I’ve seen Newcastle once and tbf I had no problems with your fans (though maybe it’s because hooligans don’t really target teenage girls) and the atmosphere was poisonous because you’d signed Speed and nobody knew why he’d gone until many years later, so our fans booed him EVERY SINGLE TIME he got the ball. It was painful. I think you won - Shearer was around then.

Why is there beef between us and you? It’s not solely down to Pickford, is it? I dread it when he starts against you cos your fans go to his head. I know we’ve had a few players go to Sunderland.
I don't understand where the animosity comes from. I’ve been to Everton a few times and had no problems with the fans other than when grown men tried to attack my son. I doubt it had anything to do with fans booing Speed even though I don’t think that should have happened but fans have to make up their own minds on when to boo or not. As for Pickford, he brought it on himself taunting our fans when he played against us at St James’ and we’ve had his life ever since.

You can come to Newcastle any time, wear your colours in virtually any pub and you'll be treated with respect, respect has to go both ways though.

I'll reply in the Newcastle thread as this will be a long one.

Same here. Its really really nice to see football in this country equalised out. Obviously we're top right now (Due to Pep) but we could be just one of the contenders in future in a much more healthier league system where anyone from the top 7! could win it.

And our media want us to go back to the red clubs winning it it ALL the time!

I am sure the PL bosses are seeing this, and are seeing the uptake in global sales, seeing UEFA saying the PL model is the way to go for the rest of Europe. I never want to see this countries football go back to the equivalent of the Bayern league, and if it does then I am out tbh.

I watch, always in the hope they get smashed.....and while last night wasn't such an event,a woeful Spurs denying the cunts 2 points was a lovely little bonus!
That’s an interesting way to see it. Why I applaud you. Can’t stomach it. Nonetheless, always happy when they drop points in any manner.

Me too. I watched their second half last night, so thankfully missed their goals and witnessed their collapse.

They didn't look great. I noticed (no sound on) Rashford trying to speed his way past defenders, to no avail; shooting from anywhere, to no avail; attempting to dribble, to no avail. Was Sancho playing second half? I didn't notice him. De Gea has poor distribution. Lindelof looks average at best. Fred never does anything creative. Casemiro looks to be a potential red card in every game.

I can't imagine them causing us any problems in the final, but I'll still be nervous though.
