Premier League(midweek)Games 8/9/10 May

I’ve nothing particular against Southampton, but I'd prefer them to go down. It would be good to see Hughes taking two clubs down in the same season after all his previous bragging that he had never relegated a team. Plus the Cardiff v Swansea Welsh derby should be interesting too.

Agree with all that. Leslie is a complete managerial fraud.

I can understand not buying into the conspiracy (though, what I am describing isn’t much of a conspiracy for an entertainment product), but am not sure I understand how the presumption of us beating Southampton changes the logic behind such attempts to influence the relegation battle to go down to the final round of the season.

Because we could easily do Southampton 3 or 4 and Swans could do the same to an already relegated Stoke. So if "they" are trying to make it more exciting on the final day then a Southampton win tonight would be the way "they" are pushing it. You said "they" were pushing for a draw or Swans win so what you said doesn't make sense.

Leslie will cry poor that he was involved in our greatest moment to date on our turf and we should return the compliment.

It would be the deathnell of his career in the premiership if he was involved with two sides that went down in the same season after QPR and Fulham were left to falter after he was sacked from QPR and moved on from Fulham now both in the championship.

A poor manager is our Leslie.

Absolutely agree and have said as much on here myself.

He needs to be removed from the top shelf of the managerial pantry, if for no other reason than to save decent clubs from paying the price down the road.

Soton winning here makes the probablities less enticing, while a draw creates more balanced probabilities for outcomes on the final day, with West Brom and Huddersfield are still in the mix. Swansea winning still leads to more entertaining probabilities, as they would be level with Southampton with a worse GD, Hudders still likely sweating.

Again, my argument was about making it more entertaining on the final day, which a draw or Swansea win would likely do. I am not sure but perhaps we are arguing two different points (and we actually agree with one another)?

By the way, I have said many times elsewhere that I think FA/PL want a draw here as the best outcome for the “product”.
