President Joe Biden

To anyone that casts a judgemental eye on those "doubting why it matters whether Trump or Biden are elected in November (as they’re all the same)", ask yourself how the judicial process in the States got that way. When the Dems don't put up a fight about Judge Garland and allows #45 to enter judges he wants, then they are complicit in how this situation is badly lopsided. They have continued to allow conservative judges to be appointed up and down the land. I don't think the Dems are in a position to hold RBG's seat open as they'll just be out-voted. Delay, maybe, but that's it.

This is what happens when you take the mantra 'when they go low, we go high' as a beacon call to getting shit done! Get the shit slapped out of you, so you keep turning your cheek to receive more slaps! Just note that it's taken a Progressive entry into the Dem party to force them to fight!

It's also why Progressives are winning down-ticket ballot races.

The Dems have created this problem and yet they act like they've had nowt to do with it. Stop falling for it!
When will people start to understand that there is no place for a 'progressive' government under the current system?

The current system has to change, but it will not change if you have two parties opposing each other every step of the way. Republicans are never going to vote for a change to the system; it suits them perfectly as it is. At best Democrats can hope for is to make incremental, and often insignificant changes when in power, which are then inevitably ripped up and thrown away when the governorship of the country next changes hands.

Yes, 'progressives' might be making waves further down the ticket and at district/city/town level, but when it comes to the big league, they are less palatable. It's only going to get worse if Trump gets re-elected.

There is only one game in town; Biden or oblivion.

At some point the Dems have to stop giving their lunch money to the GOP, if they want to be seen as real leaders. As it is, the bully just happens to love his own power, so the school is getting a bit fed up of it.

The school kids think the Dems look pretty pathetic as it is, but don't have a choice and no one will take them seriously.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this!

According to Biden he wants 97% of Americans to have "access to healthcare". Who knows what he means when it comes to the other 3%?

And then there's this situation that the dumb Dems are forgetting...

Even the whole 'public option' consideration is under threat as I understand the Dems are backing away from that pledge!

Hushed Up

Under Threat?

I am actually more optimistic than this about the future of the Progressive wing of American politics, especially as there is going to be a populist vacuum eventually assuming Trumpism eventually is defeated. However, for those Progressives who do not get on board with Biden to defeat the single greatest internal threat to America since slavery, at a time when the nation as a whole needs them most, they'll be ostracized and outcast, and well they should be. Progressive politicians are all smart enough to have figured this out -- they understand the greater evil, and the immediate threat.

By 'populist vacuum' do you mean all those people who voted for Trump in 2016 desperately trying to convince people they've never even heard of him, and would never dream of voting for someone like him in a million years?

I've maintained all along that for many for whom clinging to Trump isn't just a troll at those they hate and fear (which admittedly is a ton of his base), some support him because they really are desperate and discouraged and frustrated about their happiness prospects in America. He's not, and never was, the answer. Eventually -- as with Nixon -- history is going to write that it was Trump who destroyed himself, and not the "MSM" (assuming he does self-destruct, which he will). But they're still looking for answers. And Progressives may be able to offer some. They won't offer any on social issues for those that support Trump (which is why I suspect you are right that Progressives may struggle on a national stage), but they may very well offer some on economic issues. Whether they're the right answers is another question.

You great big 'intellects' are STILL not addressing why there's almost 100M people that don't vote and why that is.

I'll offer this; they don't trust politicians have their best interests at heart.
I suspect that is just a cop out for 'generally can't be arsed' for whatever reason.

An awful lot of voter apathy can be put down to laziness. That whole 'my vote doesn't matter', or 'all politicians are the same' crowd are just taking the easy way out, rather than doing the legwork to understand just why their vote does matter.
