What ever happened to critical thinking and debate?

Some of the posts in here are practically gaslighting posters about their mental health.

By all means we can disagree and debate. When posters start attacking others personally we've all lost.

I have my views, some have changed during the time of this thread alone. I'm willing to listen to other point of view, no matter how silly they seem to me, as others might think the same to mine. I will try (and occasionally fail) to update my knowledge on factual sources to back up on my points. Occasionally I'll post something on here I'll later regret. That's being human. We're not perfect, we have our own bias and prejudices be they subconscious and it's perfectly healthy to challenge them. Not to lash out on people with differing perceptions of reality than ourselves.

I've tried numerous times to engage in political discourse with Bigga - every single time Bigga stuck to some irrational point. Moreover, Bigga is unable to explain why he believes in things. It's one thing to disagree with someone on principal and understand why they believe what they believe; it's altogether another thing to attempt to engage with someone only to find that they stick to their original position no matter what and however illogical and moreover are unable to explain the rationale behind their beliefs.

Numerous posters have had precisely the same experience engaging with Bigga as I have had.

My remark about Bigga being out-of-touch with reality was a factual, although admittedly subjective, assessment - albeit one shared by many other posters.

Note that I did not call you out, Dax, nor Mat, though we often disagree.

In the end it’s really just one poster. Allowed to accuse an entire thread of racism simply for disagreeing with him (when almost no one even knew he was Black), hurl personal insults at will without consequence, criticize a parent’s attempt at child-rearing because a kid came out as LGTBQ, spoil for a fight in nearly every post, WUM whenever he likes, even the mods have apparently given up trying to control him. He gets banned for a while I guess then comes back and behaves precisely as before.

I may have an issue or two with others and get steamed when we disagree but they are civil even when I am not, to their credit and not to mine. The only solution is ignore which helps some but threads still get polluted with everyone else responding. Maybe it’s time to just quit.

Despite the amount of abuse from a particular poster (who allegedly has me on 'ignore') towards others posters (I don't include me as I'm not bothered by him/them), nothing seems to happen to them and certainly no bans.

I find it ridiculous from what I've seen.

Discourse cannot and will not happen with this lot.

See, this is nonsense.

I explain in great detail why I think as I do.

You choose to respond in absolutes; choose A or B, when my thoughts sit outside of your silly defined positions, when nothing in life exists like this.

This is WHY you cannot debate and get frustrated, because you believe the arbitrary choices given to you.

Societal life is not balanced, living your way.

Not that this particular clown will see this but there are a NUMBER of lies spoken here:

Lie one: I have NEVER in my life, on this board, hurled insults at anyone who hasn't insulted me first and if, in the rare occasion I have, I've apologised for it.

Lie two: This is an outright and disgusting lie! If this poster is regarding what happening between he and I, this was about political stances, where I suggested for him give his child all the facts about left and right politics and let the child come to his own conclusions. And this poster, posting these accusations at me, flipped his wig about 'don't tell me how to raise my child' or to similar effect.

Lie three: This is untrue. I present other sides of the discussion where the board are not told of what the complete picture is.

Lie four: In presenting the other side of the discussion people, like this poster, froth. When similar posters claim Rogan is 'racist' for example, I disagree and cite the problems with their view, which never has a response. Must be uncomfortable to answer so best ignore. Weird, right?

Number five: This is quite interesting, non? These posters seem to have an issue with my having views from my demographic. I post as I see fit from that PoV which is, roundly, ignored by the majority of these posters. The Black PoV has nothing to do with them, so they don't include it in their own collective outlook. But I 'must be controlled' for it and discussing this with mods, it seems.

Anybody else see an issue here...?

Should I apologise for being as far left as anyone on this board? No.

Should I apologise for being Black and posting as such, on this board? Hell, fucking no.
