…or grammar, or language…Unfortunately time after time here in the UK I see our union Jack flags flying upside-down.
It’s embarrassing British patriotics not knowing their own British flag.

Some years ago I organised a trip to Cyprus for a group of 60 ex-Grenadier Guards. The hotel manager decided to flag the Union Jack to honour his guests, but it was upside down. I spotted the error and pointed it out to the leader of the group. He quizzed his comrades on the flag but only a handful knew. The King will 100% know which way it's supposed to be flown, as will anyone who's served in the military.
To be fair my late father in law used to orgaanise Grenadier trips, and a lot that went had just done the 2 years national service in the regiment and from meeting them I think a fair few of those wouldn't have noticed either. Some years ago I organised a trip to Cyprus for a group of 60 ex-Grenadier Guards. The Japanese are especially sensitive about this with their flag tooNot bothered when people fly the Union flag upside down, but it really gets my goat when people do it with the St George’s flag.
Switzerland have got it right, only one with a square flag so you an hang it upside down or 90° and it still looks the same. The Japanese are especially sensitive about this with their flag too
I never knew either. Still not sure now what the correct way to fly it. Have been told previously but always forget. Some years ago I organised a trip to Cyprus for a group of 60 ex-Grenadier Guards.
