Saudi Arabia and Kuwait 'lift restrictions on US use of bases and airspace'
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have lifted restrictions on US military use of bases and airspace linked to operations around the Strait of Hormuz, the Wall Street Journal reports.

It clears a key obstacle for the US effort to restart escorted commercial shipping operations through the key waterway.

The US had paused Project Freedom, not long after it started, with the operation relying heavily on Saudi and Kuwaiti bases and airspace due to the large number of US aircraft protecting ships.

Speaking earlier this week, US defence secretary Pete Hegseth said a "powerful red, white and blue dome" had been established over the Strait of Hormuz.

"American destroyers are on station, supported by hundreds of fighter jets, helicopters, drones and surveillance aircraft, providing 24/7 overwatch for peaceful commercial vessels," he added.

The lifting of Saudi and Kuwaiti restrictions could also increase the range of options available to the US if Donald Trump wants to restart the bombing, something he has previously vowed if no deal is agreed with Iran.

Sky now also reporting explosions heard near an Iranian port.

Fars: During exchanges of fire between Iranian forces and the enemy, parts of the commercial area at Bahman Port were hit. More details are expected later.

Honestly every day in this conflict it gets more bizarre and people are making a fortune on oil prices and the stock market. But if this carries on much longer it will all come crashing down surely.

In news that will surprise absolutely no-one that isn’t a MAGA , Trumps phone is not going to be made.

You know the US designed (AI fed ‘iPhone + gold + Trump”), US to be built (yeah right, there’s so much knowledge on how to build phones in US), and $500 privilege of signing up for one (payable to one Mr Trump)…

In an additional twist grift that again no-one that isn’t MAGA could foresee from outer space…. The hundred thousand odd people (iirc) who handed over their $500 … aren’t getting it back.

Anecdotal but . . . I just spent the week driving through eastern OR, then ID, WY and SD on my way to MN. Pretty much the deadest-reddest part of the USA. Not a single Trump sign, hat or sticker.

And when I entered rural MN I saw this — swear to God — on a piece of farmland: a huge banner that said, “I made a mistake. I voted for Trump. I’m sorry.”

Perhaps there’s hope.

I’ve been following this via Charlie who, purely for laughs, stumped up the money to get on the list for a Trump phone and rings them up on a regular basis to chase them for his phone. He is now flagging tne ‘new’ terms and conditions which stipulate that shelling out for a pre-order is a) no guarantee that you will get your phone, and b) not even a guarantee that they will even bother to manufacture the phone as it is entirely at Trump mobile’s discretion whether they will offer them for sale or not.

In short, it is blatant fraud.

Am currently reading a new biography of JG Ballard, who is best known for writing the novel Empire of the Sun.

Ballard is regarded as a visionary author, someone who, for example, predicted the rise of reality TV and social media.

After he died in 2009, a notebook was discovered containing his ideas for a novel that was never completed, a project called World Versus America or VUS1. Here is an extract from it:

Ballard’s biographer describes the project as ‘not so much a novel-in-embryo as a tarot reading’.

Just thought it was worth a mention.
