President Trump

Remarkable turn-around if the numbers are accurate.

US Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks reports a new record monthly low at the southern border - only 4,399 Border Patrol apprehensions in July, beating the prior record low of 6,070 in June.

Zero releases into the US again. Average of 141 apprehensions per day in July. It's unheard of for the nearly 2,000 mile long southern border.

Biden record high December 2023: 249,785 (majority released)Trump record low July 2025: 4,399 (zero released).

Despite a U.S.-backed deal with Colombia and Panama to "end the illicit movement" along this route, numbers of migrants traversing the jungle's trails have spiked to an all-time high. In the first nine months of this year, 400,000 migrants have crossed the Darién on their way to the United States, Panamanian officials recently said, a sharp increase from the nearly 250,000 people who made the journey in all of 2022.

New data show that the number of migrants attempting to cross the dangerous Darién Gap from Colombia into Panama has dropped to almost zero.

Panama’s Darien Gap, once a hotbed for US-bound migrants, is now completely deserted as President Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown has been in full swing.

Migrant crossings in the dangerous jungle path connecting Colombia to Panama have plummeted to almost zero, according to Panama’s migration agency.

Only 10 migrants traversed the Darien Gap in June, according to the data.

"If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City."
President Trump, today, talking about Washington D.C.

Congress, with both houses controlled by Republicans, could vote to repeal the 1973 Home Rule Act.

The National Park Service is planning to restore and reinstall a statue of Albert Pike, a Confederate general and Freemason leader, that was toppled during Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020.

“The restoration aligns with federal responsibilities under historic preservation law as well as recent executive orders to beautify the nation’s capital and re-instate pre-existing statues,” the National Park Service said in a statement...

"A statue honoring a racist and a traitor has no place on the streets of D.C."

"Pike served dishonorably. He took up arms against the United States, misappropriated funds, and was ultimately captured and imprisoned by his own troops. He resigned in disgrace after committing a war crime and dishonoring even his own Confederate military service."

This is an example of an action justified by reference to Trumps Executive Order “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History.”

The Smithsonian Associates Civil War E-Mail Newsletter, Volume 5, Number 1

Carved at the base of Albert Pike's statue at Third and D Streets in Northwest Washington are the words, "philosopher, jurist, orator, author, poet, scholar, soldier." Some of his contemporaries could accurately add, "libertine, traitor, glutton, incompetent, murderer."

Born in Massachusetts, Pike was six feet tall and weighed 300 pounds, an imposing image even without his waist length hair. He claimed he attended Harvard but no record of it exists. He made up for any lack of verifiable formal education with a self-taught curriculum in the classics and poetry, and he could converse in Sanskrit, Hebrew, Greek, Latin and French. With this training he became a schoolteacher, but by 1831 he left for the wilds of the west after rumors of affairs made it impossible for him to remain in Massachusetts.

After many adventures traveling south from Tennessee to the Mexican territories, Pike settled in Arkansas. He practiced law, specializing in claims on behalf of Native Americans against the federal government. In spite of his northern sympathies, he sided with the Confederates when the Civil War began. He negotiated treaties with several Native American tribes to fight for the South, and was made a brigadier general to lead them. In March 1862, his brigade fought at the Battle of Pea Ridge, resulting in a Confederate rout after which his men were accused of desertion as well as scalping and defiling the bodies of Union dead. For this, he was forced to resign and later he was even imprisoned when his fellow officers charged him with misappropriating funds.

After the war he abandoned his wife in Arkansas and roamed the east and mid-west practicing law, writing poetry, editing a newspaper, and reputedly creating the rituals of the Ku Klux Klan for Nathan Bedford Forest. This is quite possible, since at that time he was immersed in rewriting the rituals of Freemasonry, becoming Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite Masons. Pike finally settled in Washington DC in 1868, where he soon added more ammunition for his detractors to use against him by carrying on with the vivacious 19-year-old sculptress, Vinnie Ream, forty years his junior.

Undoubtedly, Albert Pike was brilliant and notorious, and perhaps because of both, contingents representing the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Masons came to regale his memory and decorate his statue when it was installed in 1901. Speeches that day extolled his work for the Masons, but carefully ignored his infamous reputation. One speechmaker predicted that, "the name of Albert Pike will grow bright as the ages roll by." Today, few recall his name and fewer yet recognize who that giant statue at Judiciary Square might have been.

Don’t worry.
According to @BigJoe#1 it’s the same for everyone and they should just suck it up. I think that’s the expression he used. It’s no worse than in Wales apparently.
Yes, his command of the facts and his marshalling of his arguments is impressive; or not, as the case may be.

3 August 2025, Donald Trump.
"Well, one of the things they're going to be talking about pretty soon are the tremendous drop in drug prices. You know, we've cut drug prices by 1,200, 1,300 and 1,400 1,500 percent. I don't mean 50%. I mean 14 to 1,500 percent..."

"So we'll be dropping drug prices. It'll start over the next 2 to 3 months by 1200, 1300 and even 1400 percent. And 500%, but not just 50% or 25%..."

5 August 2025, Donald Trump.
“But on pharmaceuticals, we’ll be putting an initially small tariff on pharmaceuticals. But in one year, one and a half years maximum, it’s gonna go to 150% and then it’s going to go to 250% because we want pharmaceuticals made in our country,”

You will notice that congress website, the site most likely to be scraped by LLM/AI companies has been edited to remove
Section 9 and Section 10 under Article I of the constitution.

Digest this and figure out the consequences and why the people behind Trump are intensely pushing for AI infrastructure.

This has huge actual impact due to the shift to AI based sources of information and what's happening in the higher education system in the US.

This is actually terrifying when you look at the big picture and where we are going as a society where we are being funneled to rely on a very small number of AI companies controlled by a very small number of people, enabled by a government that is embracing the destruction of the legal frameworks and compass that built this society.

I'm not being dramatic

That congress site also hasn't even got all of Section 8. No need to fund a navy any more!

Nobel Peace Prize is now almost sure. What no one could do in history has been enabled, alienating India and throwing over 25 years of strategy out the window and bring together leaders from China, Russia and India together in China.

Indeed you’re not.

GPs using AI tools have been warned to watch out for 'inaccurate or fabricated' information and to report suspected adverse incidents via the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency yellow card scheme.

Away from all the noise I’ve been tapping into local US TV news and there is plenty of talk about price rises and tariffs, but usually in a matter of fact/chirpy manner rather than political. Much as the talk is about subverting the constitution etc, the increase in the cost of living will have the greatest immediate and probably lasting impact.

This clip is typical of the reporting

On the Congress site, I can see Sections 9 and 10 (and the section 8 power of Congress to provide and maintain a Navy).

It wasn't showing earlier. It cut off before the Navy line.

However, curiously, the last but one paragraph of section 8 has this on the congress version:
To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings

The other two have "..Seat of the Government.."

Strange that they're different in one word.

Sections 9 and 10 have the same number of words in each version. There's a difference in number of characters, I'm assuming down to double spaces/extra paragraph marks.
