In Congressional testimony, Hegseth was asked if the troops deployed on the streets had shoot to kill authority. He danced around the question but said they had the ability to defend themselves as needed.

I’d suggest “full force” is an answer to that question, and I’d suggest it’s WHOLLY UNLAWFUL AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL, but who cares about that???

Trump doesn’t care what the courts say, and what is anyone going to do about it???

We are fucked unless SCOTUS starts to at least try to rein him in, but so far the RIGHT WING MAJORITY is giving him carte blanche!
 
Not looking good for the US. I can only see things ending in bloodshed.
How many people here see what is happening and still think Farage (the Trump wannabee) is the answer?

I watched that Hegseth testimony. It was a disgrace. He refused to answer a straightforward question as to whether the troops were authorised to arrest citizens. “Are they authorised? Yes or no?”
The trouble of course is that Portland is “ravaged by war” according to Trump.
This is a serious as it gets.

He knows if he sends in a heavy handed mob the protesters will push back. Cue more violence from the troops leading to more violence from the protestors, and as you say, martial law will be imposed.

Bit off topic, but I can’t help but think that the US team has missed a trick here. I’m sure Trump would have lent them his caddies for the Ryder Cup which would have meant a 28-0 score of course…
