I think people don't understand the process. The 2025 award if for deeds dedicated to peace in 2024 (and before ) - nominations close in January every year then the committee spend several months considering each nomination before concluding and making their award. Therefore by dint of a 124 year old process there was no way on God's green earth he was going to win something on Friday for a deed he did on Thursday.

He could be in the running for next year under some caveats. First the peace process has to actually last ( I remind everyone that at the time of writing no prisoner exchange has happened and Israel is still dropping munitions on Gaza) then its look at his track record which may well count against him - ICE agents causing mayhem, bombing boats in international waters with zero investigations and due process to prove they are drug smuggling and of course J6. He could pass away before any announcement but before and decision in which case he is out of the running however if he is announced as the winner then dies before inauguration then they are the only circumstances he could win it posthumously.

In purely rational terms, whilst the ceasefire is obviously a very good thing, there is not peace deal for the overall conflict even on the table.

The Israelis continue to take West Bank land by force and there's no long term agreement on Palestinian status.

I think the only way Trump would genuinely deserve a peace prize is if that were delivered ie something along the lines of the Oslo accords.

And even then there's the small problem of his wider work against peace and democracy to take into account.
 
There is a version of events where Trump wins it next year; however it's based on some sort of basic political stability ensuing which is anathema to Trumps whole approach.
