Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

$50k for a 30 year lease on the top level down to $15k for the lower level. But that’s excluding the cost of game tickets. It sounds a bit like flexi-gold with a bit of premium features, but paid in advance for many years. It looks like everything else will be sold as General Admission.

This season a ten-game GA package (which actually included 2x preseason games) cost $1146. The avg season ticket was $3180 (that’s for the games, not PSL - Personal Seat Licence).

I suppose they’re hoping fans will just see the PSL as $500 - $1667 a season and find a way to fund it (they probably have a payment plan they can offer).

Scruffy Jim has already mooted this idea for the Circus Tent. I also note that the Bills got $800M tax payer assistance for their new stadium.

I think we can begin to see just why we are attracting so many US owners over here.
Cheers, I wasn't aware Scruffy Jim was pushing this over here (albeit, not surprised).

I couldn't be arsed watching that (sorry) but I'd guess that is for some humongous hospitality section?

It ranges from $1500 to $50k to own the seat & yes $50k reserves the seat for swanky. Neither required these upfront charges previously.

For example cheapest season ticket previously was $500, it’s now $1500 upfront & $1200 per season.

Most expensive ticket was $2000, it’s now $50,000 & $4000 per season.

There’s a reduction in capacity from 71.6k to 62k.

Oops you beat me to it & seem to be far more knowledgeable about the whole situation.

It’s corporate welfare in my opinion, billionaires getting benefits for community infrastructure then taking it away from the community.

Oh no not really I just googled out of interest but my figures came from Sports Illustrated so think they’ll be close.

It’s worrying how it might go in the UK.

Interesting that the video mentioned the new stadium is smaller & that appears a new trend. Drive up prices by having high demand. I live in Oz now & would constantly have to go to sporting events I had no interest in. Free tickets to an AFL grand final, real fans locked out whilst I was watching City on my mobil. AC Milan have a league game here this season, it’s only going one way.

West Ham did the same in the early 1990s to pay for the Anne stadium going all seater.

The seat bonds were for 150 years. If fans can't afford them it will go the same way as that club did, a few buy and then the rest can buy tickets normally again.

City looked at it under Cook, surveys were sent out about buying the right to your ST.

An increase i have noted is the returned tickets in the away end , £38 last year for and adult and child, £48 this year for the Bournemouth returned tickets, extra fiver on each ticket

They're certainly clawing monies back from the demo.

I wonder if what you've posted is legal Changing the price of tickets?

Suppose City will hide behind them now being for home fans...

More and more of us will end up watching from home with things like the Apple vision which will put you on the halfway line for an annual subscription. Only the privileged will be able to afford to go or someone treating themselves as a one off, it proved in Covid they didn’t need us.

Seems a bit strange to be expanding the stadium if that’s the intention

Once we have to start competing with American prices, dynamic prices, and all kinds of corpoate first, fans second, it'll be the end of what was a local club. American franchises! I was watching a YouTube t'other day about Oakland. They don't have any teams now!

Serie A have started playing abroad - two games, one in Florida and one in Australia. And the Italian Club, Como, I think, are taking FIFTY fans with them as a sop. It's bad enough when we play Bayern or Inter in Pittsburgh or wherever instead of the old favourites Macc, County, Alex et al. Once City depart the UK for a PL game I'm off!

You wouldn’t be the only one.

It’s a good job our ticket prices seem to be getting cheaper.
A 1 year reduction isn’t evidence of getting cheaper, let’s see if they retain the rates over the coming seasons. My guess is they saw reduced demand for games they tried selling at vastly inflated prices in the first place (CL was a shambles last season) and foresaw problems filling the extra 7000 seats.

Unfortunately for our owners I just don’t see how we can match the big London clubs for match day income. There are just fewer “occasional” fans living in the region and much fewer tourists who happen to be around at the time. They clearly leave open a number of hospitality packages for such people that often don’t sell if it’s unattractive opposition.
