He was meant to be playing a second gig at 12.30 am, only 100 or so people turned up in the queue so they were let in for the last 4 songs...for £35!
There has since been an apology though and those people will get in tonight gig free[/quote

they only announced that on internet last night so jumped in the car with the other half and went down paid the £35 each think was five songs we saw him play he were quality though .
those five songs were better than some full set gigs i have seen by other singers and bands ,

sorry mate my mrs would have my balls in a sling if i did that :) , we have had to phone the academy give them our phone number and the events manager is calling us back

Prince....Manchester Academy. 2 hours 20 mins of sheer musical genius. Crystal clear sound, song after song, tight jammin' funk...rock as hard as any metal bands...riffs Page, Iommi and Blackmore would kill for. Solos that put Vai, Satriani and E V Halen in the shade....(He even played a funked up bass solo that killed any lesser pretenders like Flea) Pop, rock, soul funk....master of all trades.

His band, 3rd Eye Girl are as tight as any I have seen....killer guitarist and bassist...and a drummer described, accurately as 'Bonham with tits'....

And I don't say this lightly, but that was the very finest gig I have EVER seen...
£70? I would have paid £770 to see that show.....

What exactly are the point of these "secret" gigs anyway?

If you want to play a small, intimate venue, fair enough. But why all this bullshit about not telling any fucker where it is?

I'd be amused if the people he told to organise these secret gigs, took him by his word and didn't tell any **** whatsoever.

These people who went to the gig, a couple on my facebook page, never heard them mention Prince before (MCFCTrick excepted!)
Would they have gone had it been at the MEN Area?
I get the impression it was more a case of ''look at me, I got one of the tickets''. 70 quid is some expensive point to prove!

I'm not a huge fan but would have gone had the opportunity presented itself. However I wouldn't bother to open my curtains if morrisey was playing in my back garden.

Nor would I.
But if Morrissey is playing would you? ;)

Why even mention Morrissey? There's thousands of bands I'm presuming you don't like what was the point in making that comment.

Because MES is a big fan and I enjoy seeing how many times I can get him to correct my morrisey spelling :)
