Licence.Think you're misunderstanding what "life" means though.
It is a life sentence in that the convict will be on license for the remainder of his/her life whether they are released or not.

In his defense not the worst offense you see on here.;)Licence.
I just think that if someone is to serve say 11 years for something then say that - don't say Life then cover your mouth and say 11 years - its disingenuous to the victims and their families and society to trumpet Life when it doesn't really mean it. Lets call a spade a spade not a shovel or a hand operated earth moving device so that people really understand what is what in the criminal justice system.
Everyone convicted of murder is given a life sentence. I have no problem, in theory, of letting reformed and rehabilitated prisoners out
I know a sentence that would. It's a difficult one, but this debate should (currently) be framed around the irrefutable fact that sentences for murder (and other serous crimes) have been persistently and significantly increasing over the last 20 years - and it doesn't seem to be placing any downward pressure on violent crime.
Yeah, that works really well in America.I know a sentence that would.

ThisIt works as they no longer pose a threat to society.
I think you’ve missed the point and good luck deploying the United States as an example of a system that places downward pressure on violent crime. It works as they no longer pose a threat to society.
