Protest v Wolves

How is letting st holders transfer to anbodee gonna be better for segregation/safetee/atmosphere?
The reality is that it won't make the slightest difference when the club is selling to ANYONE who can afford the prices via the 9 reseller sites.

Why punish and limit seasoncard holders (who in 99.9% of cases are acting in good faith)? It's a completely hypocritical stance from the club and disengenous for other fans to use it as an argument.

Didn't mention why there were big gaps in the crowd won't affect the club but I'm sure it'll help the emptyhad reputation, a huge banner would of been more effective

Doesn't matter. Every time Mansour sees empty seats at kick-off now he will know the fans aren't happy even if Soriano tells him every game is sold out. Needs to be continued until the club does the right thing. It's the fans' only channel to the owner.

Don't think for a minute CM or the OSC have achieved concessions out of Soriano. It was fan action.

Fans needed to find a way to get Mansour / Khaldoon onto this. It worked. Just keep up the pressure on Soriano.

Tim I did DM you from the 1894 twitter account couple of weeks ago saying we were going on podcasts talking about flexi gold and did you want to put your side across to a wider audience- the show had 3 flexi gold people on it. We surveyed fans and 131 FG members replied and said they should have a choice of FG or ST - not with a 16 game criteria to upgrade but that they should be able to get one without having to “prove their worth” as a City fan first, you yourself have loads of FG members in your branch, we are fighting they have the right to be full season card holders. It’s not good enough in the eyes of fans to just have a pathway to a season card - a difficult pathway jumping through various hoops and remembering to buy on time etc - the citymatters statement was liked on twitter by the club with a blue heart. For fans who want more they will see that the club is then trying to use citymatters for PR. I know the guys have worked hard they have had practice sessions and talked about what to say. But we pre-date citymatters by many years we pass on advice every day to many of them and have done for years and we say don’t be too close to the club, don’t accept the tunnel club tickets, don’t agree to joint statements all the time, but some distance between yourselves and the club so that you are able to go further.

Club’s behaviour towards citymatters has been coercive, they ignored the chair’s comments on modernisation and changing the governance of it, they ignored them on prices, on the actual way FG should be rolled out for example, they did what they want, all of a sudden citymatters is then at the request of some of their members, back by outside forces like ourselves- we start doing more joint statements, the bottom line is the club sees citymatters as it’s toy to get whatever it wants through, however doesn’t like to see fans giving their voice independently outside that bubble and not having to work under the constraints of how citymatters reps work with the club.

So what we have started seeing and what we will see moving forward is the club trying to play a PR game , giving some concessions to CM as they go along but still try and maintain a stranglehold over it. They would rather amplify citymatters voice and show the public “it is working” rather than feel they have to show they are giving in to “mob rule”.

The 3 protest groups plus solid citizens who signed the letter to pep this week know full well how it works politically at City, that City will give their announcements to CM reps first, which is why the date of the concourse protest was chosen for Wolves because it weaponised the citymatters meeting of 1st may ie here is a chance for the club to bring in season cards, reduce prices, change the reseller agreements, amend the attendance criteria but none of this happened, so of course the protest went ahead and was well supported. 7000 instead of 10000 but the first one was practically the biggest anywhere inside a stadium in the prem since the kop walk out. It’s still huge numbers. It’s like saying K2 isn’t as big as Everest.

The same now applies to the citymatters meeting on 12th June we would expect club to give some more concessions- they know the citymatters reps are supported by the fans outside the room.

Some of the citymatters reps might not appreciate that even now and might feel it’s taking some of the limelight away from them, if so that’s their issue. They have to see the strength of feeling from fans. Last season the season card rep didn’t read the room and didn’t understand the criticism when she didn’t sign the letter most of the others did. This year she has been working through the mails from fans and passing them all onto the club and we did thank her for her work - maybe that stuck in her throat slightly- but we are here to pass on feedback from fans and the issue was she was the season card rep and it was her area.

The ticketing sub group was bypassed in citymatters when the OSC were doing their own private negotiations with the club on securing more flexi gold for their members.

That undermines the whole point of citymatters. All the club have tried to do is try and stop protests happening and they have failed miserably.

Because they haven’t listened.

Flexi Gold isn’t the answer to getting rid of empty seats. The pricing and the way tickets are allocated is.
That’s a bloody good read

But u think st holders wont sell to N E ONE.?

You're always going to get incidents where fans are tricked or they don't take enough care... but we're talking about an absolute tiny minority (and a worthwhile price to pay for thousands of blues getting to go to watch games at seasoncard face value prices).

I would turn the question round... do you think that any opposition fans will buy tickets through the 9 reseller partners the club has?

If the club is using fan safety as the reason behind introducing restrictions on transfers, then it should also look at those 9 reseller partnerships that create a far more obvious threat.

The fact of the matter is the resellers generate more revenue for the club, whereas seasoncard transfers generate no revenue (in fact you could argue it costs the club because they don't sell as many match day tickets). It's a decision based on match-day revenue, not on safety or improving the atmosphere. I don't think that's difficult to see.

Read his post. There will be some, but tiny numbers. I know being edgy and too cool for school is your shtick but for someone of your age, you should be ashamed of how you write. Grow up

Try to hang on to the remaining cells of your drug-addled brain before it's too late. Or go back to bed and leave this thread for real debate instead of your trolling. You've been proven wrong so many times on this topic already
Is there any need for this?

Agree, disagree, but at least remain civil. I got tore into yesterday for daring to have a comment or opinion on this issue.

It's really bang out of order

If you really want to create an alternative to the OSC then do what I said to you a few years ago and form a Supporters Trust. 1894 is by far the best placed group to do it yet you've done nothing. Put your money where your mouth is finally and step out from behind your keyboard.

I think it's a little unfair to say '1894 has done nothing'. We've been one of the main instigators in these recent protests. It was my idea (acting on behalf of 1894) to start fundraising to cover the disabled parking charges (which, alongside campaigning from numerous people and a brilliant media campaign) led to those charges being removed.

We have represented City fans at FansEurope, the FSA. I've been to Westminster twice to talk about the issues football fans face to face with politicians (I was even on a teams call with Keir Starmer once). We have helped lead the nationwide #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign (which we started with our banner against Arsenal last season).

We got the Community Shield final time changed to suit Mancunian fans travelling. We orchastrated a boycott that raised thousands for the foodbank.

We actively survey our members (it's free to join) and have done the biggest independent survey of any Premier League club on fan issues (receiving over 5k responses). We ran 3 surveys that thousands of blues responded to about the North Stand Expansion etc.

Going back years ago, we did loads for the rail seating campaign and twenty's plenty (which led to £30 away tickets).

And all this is off the back of 1894 being an atmosphere group that was never meant to be a pressure group or anything more, yet I'm finding myself on TalkSport, various podcasts, in national and international newspapers etc.

Remember that we are ultimately all volunteers giving up our free time (and sanity) to do this. I think it's really unfair to say 'step out from behind your keyboard'. I don't actually know what more some of us could do. I've known Dante for years, and he has literally been campaigning for City fans since the forward with Franny days.

Yes, point taken about setting up a supporters trust, but just because we are already active doesn't mean it's any more of our responsibility to do that then any other City fan. Let's see what happens - fan activism is on the rise amongst us blues (and I'm sure we can both agree that that is a good thing).

I don't want to see blues piling in on each other in this thread, but I think yourself and Stoner (and a few other protagonists that always pop up on these issues) are not reading the room.

If you post provocatively in a highly charged thread, it's inevitable that some people are going to bite. In fact, to me (as someone who can't be arsed with arguing or slagging matches on here), it seems like that's exactly what you and stoner want.

If there's reasoned debate, people will respond. If someone comes on here calling someone an ungrateful **** for protesting, they're going to get abused.

No mate, I'm trying to understand the issues and all I've done is ask questions unless you can show me where I've been deliberately 'provocative.? Unlike the twat who posted a right load of personal and insulting shit to me.

Seems those extra pints of beer gets the our crowd going! Maybe should make it 10 mins before all home games!;) do wonder how much more money the club made selling those extra pints.

Top post mate!

Here was 106 entrance up to 111 in the distance while the game was going on.

Another really positive response from Blues. Many here will be people who can afford to go to games, go to most games and aren’t affected by some of the issues that are a concern for many other Blues in the fanbase, yet stood there in solidarity for those fans.

Ok so that's passive aggressive and a bit out of order.

Asking questions for 1day isn't anything but figuring out what's going on and what's the right and wrongs of the story.

You expect people to be on board when I still can't get a straight answer as to what it is you are doing.

It's not your club. It's everyone's club.
Gaslighting posters because they want straight answers isn't going to get you better and more support. Quite the opposite.

Excuse me for trying to get to the bottom of the problems and the solutions.

Yes though some might be those always late wondering why their concourse had been gatecrashed :) smiley alert.

How many more answers do you want? You keep on asking the same questions over and again, even though you’ve had the answers to your questions from numerous posters. Like I’ve replied to you previously, if you don’t understand what the protests are about by now, don’t bother asking the same questions.

Did the Wolves fans join in the protest as well? ;-)

There was always going to be a slight drop off for the 2nd protest. Human nature.
And the concessions from the directors obviously influenced some fans.
I still thought the 2nd protest was fantastically supported by 1000’s of fans on the concourses.
Especially on the SSL1 concourse where I was stood.

Can just imagine the discussion at the next board meeting

“So next on the agenda lads is how much money we made from that 6 minute protest and do we agree that a few of these every season will see an increase in Food and Drink sales”
