Protest v Wolves

I hate the way they're just playing City Matters like a fiddle. There was resistance last year about increasing the utilisation of the season ticket from 14 games to 16 so it remained at 14. Or was it 12 and they wanted to jump it up to 16 and they settled on 14? This year they weren't even consulted on it and just went straight ahead and did it. On top of this there's the addition of the 10 game personal attendance requirement which also wasn't run past City Matters.

Apart from praise the protests when do the FSA actually do anything and step in? I'm looking forward to an independent regulator sorting all these greedy clubs and execs out. Law unto themselves currently.

I still undecided about that. I may still do that when I renew my season ticket next week? But as of now I am keeping platinum, and the 3 cup schemes are definitely going. I see that as a pretty big step and statement by myself. A decision I was going to do this season, that I bottled out of doing at the last minute due to losing the loyalty points for not rejoining the cup schemes.

It had crossed my mind that the small season ticket price increase for next season proposed by the directors was nothing more than a 'RUSE' to test the City Matters Reps resolve.

To see if the City Matters Reps would accept it and buckle, or to see if they would stand firm on a season ticket price freeze?

When all along Khaldoon and the directors had agreed between themselves to freeze season ticket prices for next season before the meeting with the City Matters Reps after the very well supported protest by the fans inside the Etihad.

Unfortunately you can't put anything past the directors atm.

My next directors conspiracy theory will be posted tomorrow. :-)

Fair dues mate, it's your choice. In my case I ditched the Platinum Tax whenever it came in. Could not justify an extra £50 on top of an ever increasing season ticket price. Lost out points wise but still always had enough for most of the big games (apart from PL aways).

What I would suggest though is keep your FA Cup scheme going. Cheaper tickets until the quarters, then guaranteed for the final. Then (if we get there) you're talking about £45 v minimum £125 plus tickets if you're not on the scheme.

I ditched the CL Cup Scheme after we'd won it. Getting home at 0200 on a regular basis was wearing me out at my age. The odd PL or Cup night game is enough for me and TBH I'm not a fan of the CL anyway. I've stayed in the other 2 Schemes as they're handy for first dibs at tickets and they cost nothing to join. You are correct about the Board 'testing the fans' resolve'. Isn't that the crux of the matter ?
They just don't seem to get it, and they've been taking our loyalty for granted. What I really don't like is the obvious strategy of trying to 'ease out' general SC Holders.There seems to be a stubbornness about Sorriano & Co, more than likely including Khaldoon, which has them believing we'll pay come what may. They are of course wrong. Success seems to have gone to their heads and IMHO that's why we are where we are right now.

So true! I remember (& still blush) meeting Vincent Kompany and being tongue tied and stammering! How difficult is it to say, when asked where you sit in the stadium, Colin Bell lower front row to the right of the away dugout? For me….in awe of VK …. a nightmare of stuttering!

So I’d probably make a fool of myself with John Boy. :-)

Never been a more important time to set up our own Supporters Trust....

....and another thing I didn't think about till last Tuesday's game...I have sat next to the same guy from my Maine Road days (we were moved over to CBL3 together). He is an observant orthodox Jew and is unable to attend games on Saturday and on the occasional fixture that might fall on one of the many Jewish holidays. So far, for more than 30 years, it's all worked out perfectly - me giving him my seat when I can't make it (as a London-based Blue) and him giving me his seat to bring a friend/family for games he can not attend for religious reasons.

He is now terrified, after 30 years, of losing his season ticket simply because he is an orthodox Jew. His seat is always full - by me - or on the exchange. Now, he is at a total loss about what to do. It might also be true of our Muslim fans, I assume, possibly over Ramadan?

I know we have a lot of Jewish fans - Manchester is the second biggest Jewish community in the UK, and the majority have the good sense to follow City. It seems not just unfair - but a poissible breach of the 2010 Equality Act?

Think he should write to the club mate or something. Along with that poor fella with crohns disease on a different thread. They haven't thought this through at all and would be shamed if some of these cases hit the media. Wouldn't be worth the bad PR that could be heading their way.

If you've got in the habit of paying it, why not consider donating the £50 to the MCFC Foodbank instead?

I think the club see the tax as a nice little earner, so it might have some impact along with the other demonstrations.

Totally agree, I was really disappointed that very few had a problem with it's introduction. I lost some of my passion for the club. I hate what they are doing and hope the vast majority join the Wolves protest, I also suggest not buying Platinum. As far as the cup schemes go, I'm undecided because I will still be attending those games and the club get less money from me by being on them.

People were desperate to keep up their loyalty points to continue getting away tickets. As it has beomce harder and harder to get away tickets, as more and more away tickets are being syphoned off, people are ditching platinum. There’s no point in paying an extra £50 for Platinum loyalty points if you know your chances of getting away tickets are getting less and less.

I'm not sure about that mate. If the press didn't pick up on the protests I think they'd have gone ahead with season ticket rises.

They could have furloughed staff like some clubs did during covid. They probably wanted to, but didn't think it'd be worth the backlash.

Seem happy enough to upset City supporters, but how they're perceived by the wider public I think they are very conscience of.
 
Does anyone know best place to park for the Wolves game? I’m a Wolves fan attending your ground for the first time. I’m trying to please the mrs shopping and drinks and go in town beforehand lol, is there anywhere I can park near the arndale etc in the city centre I can return too after the match 10pm onwards? Thanks in advance

Ashton Park n' ride car park, then catch the tram and get off at Velopark and walk down the road yo Wolves section. On return journey turn right and walk past main stand and walk to Etihad stop behind our north stand. Don't forget to scan your card at beginning and end of each journey.
