PSG (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

This all day long an awful lot of fair weather fans on here, to hear them call everyone of these players and our manager it's a wonder we ever won anything with how shit these players are according to some on Bluemoon.
There is a number of these players who weren’t a big part of us winning the trophy’s and the ones that did and were incredible are either burnt out or crocked beyond repair unfortunately

Although the 4th goal didn't affect the result, the decision by VAR to award it shows what a bunch of incompetent wankers the officials are. It was only not offside if Gvardiol deliberately played the ball. It hit his shoulder, which clearly wasn't deliberate. The offside law even specifically mentions kicking or heading the ball.

A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately played* the ball... is not considered to have gained an advantage...

*‘Deliberate play’ is when a player has control of the ball with the possibility of:
passing the ball to a team-mate;
gaining possession of the ball; or
clearing the ball (e.g. by kicking or heading it)
Nah - using the shoulder could be deliberate play.

But it hit the PSG player after Gvardiol played it, so that was the touch before it went to the forward in an offside position - so that made the VAR decision worse. Over a minute looking at it, and still got it wrong.

I hope so too , but they're unbeaten in 19 games in all competitions .They have only lost 1 of last 24 , also beaten Sporting & Villa in CL and drew with Juve. We've lost to all three !
It’s betweeen us and them, who ever loses goes out and if we don’t win we’re out.

Brugge are actually a very good team, I’m not sure people quite realise how good they are at the moment.
A good belgium team. If they turn us over next week I’ll happily eat my words!! I just think when were this bad we’re levels above them (hope so anyway)!

Yes that's what I meant if we get through the playoff

I am not 100% but it used to be 1,then it had to be that he did not play in the Champions League in the group stages for another club, But I think in this new format there are new rules about how players you can add to the squad

Also, homegrown players come into it and I think you need a percentage of homegrown players and players that have come through the ranks

They totally bummed us for 90 minutes of that game , and you’re right , such a chastising performance for all the world to see , PSG absolutely ruined us tonight , they fully deserved the win, the two goals of ours really flattered us , apart from the two goals when they slept for 5 minutes they dominated us , they so easily could have scored 7 or 8 goals.
And our goals just fell nicely after taking big deflections off their defenders. It totally flattered us that scoreline

To be honest, I'm really not arsed about making the play offs. It's 2 extra games we could do without. All our effort from now on should be concentrating on getting 4th place this season.
So you're not arsed about the Champions League but you want to concentrate on qualifying for it?

Just back to the hotel from the game. Youv'e said it all - yes, I just dont understand Rico at all - not sure he will ever be good enough and as for Nunes...

A couple of observations on the game, off the pitch.

The French police were actually a little nicer than normal - I think they are still recovering from the problems at the Champions League final (one thing to thank the scousers for), and we only kept in a while in fairness.

Credit to the PSG fans - yes they have utterly ridiculous 'Ultras' - but in fairness they were in early and sung throughout (except for the brief moment when we were 2-0 up). A good pre-match display (although I am too much of a FOC to care particularly) and obvioulsy after they drew level, they were some of the loudest fans I have heard and seem to have two opposite Ultra sections - which is interesting. It wasn't fun to have to sit as they all trooped out - but I imagine we would be pretty merciless if it was us.

Wierd thing is that they were able to use the PA system to start chants - which is the first time, during match play, I have ever experainced that - love to know if anyone else thought that?

And finally, great Blue turnout, but I am a little conlficted by the Polish Blue on the Megaphone. I have stood next to him at a few European away games and he is a good lad, and as Blue as they come, but I really hope this doesn't become a 'thing'. Most of the chants were half heartedly picked up - and I give him 10/10 for effort and love - but it's not just City for me. Too much of FOC?
