Agreed, but if the reason for the PSG scenario is to stop 'point whoring' then City would have done something similar for other future away games eg random ID checks.

This is a one off request by French police because of the terrorism threat and not about abusing the points system, the fact that it's more difficult to abuse the system is just a happy unintended consequence.

Not true. They did it for Kiev and are doing it for all future euro aways.
Do you think all the PSG fans are collecting tickets at a central point and being given wristbands? Course they ain't so how is habing 5% of the crowd jumping throygh hoops going to improve security. it's not a police initiative it's a city initiative
