PSG post match thread

On the balance of play i wouldn't argue too much because they were also very poor. All i said was quality wise, we were terrible and we are lucky to have played so poorly yet ended up in the driving seat against a supposed top european side.
I don't agree we played poorly. I think everyone pressed very well apart from Sergio who was strangely quiet. We didn't let them settle & started extremely brightly. We grew up in Europe tonight. We let PSG play as well as we wanted them to. Their players looked a bit shocked to me. I think they looked at our league form and presumed they would have an easy night. City are in the driving seat now. But it's only half done & City are experts at making a royal mess of good situations. 100% concentration required next week.

Best first touch I've ever seen from a City player as well, gets the ball hammered at him under pressure or launched high and stops it dead and shields it 99/100 times.
I've said before that Navas dose good work on the right hand side of the pitch. It would be nice to see him on the left for 10 mins or so. But the managers plan is made in stone. A player to keep for next season as a reliable squad player.

People are acting like we had some sort of magical control over the game and we've executed the perfect away performance

No, you're living in some dream land where you go away to one of the best teams in Europe in a Champions league quarter final and don't give them a single chance and another dream land where players don't miss chances.

Yeh but clearly if you're saying it's lucky for us and he should have scored... how about Fernando shouldn't have given them the ball for the first equalizer?
But he did. All i ever said was that some players were awful (Silva, Aguero, Navas, Otamendi, Clichy) and most of the ones who weren't awful, made really bad mistakes (Fernando - goal 1, Sagna - Penalty, Hart wasn't great for either goal, Fernandinho - goal 2, Mangala probably gave away a penalty which would have been a red card.

So i fail to see how that constitutes anything other than a poor overall performance, regardless of the excellent result. I wasn't even being negative with my first post. I was and still am delighted we played badly but got a great result.

deserved the draw without a doubt , should have bought on Ianhacho for the last 10 minutes , both teams have got mistakes in them and both have the players to capitalise , looking forward to a great game next tuesday with the Etihad rocking , could be a bit of a nailbiter , not for the faint hearted..cmooooon

I think my point is lost. Whilst they were poor, they could, on another day have quite easily scored 3 or 4. If you want to dig up reasons for why their chances shouldn't have counted, that's fair enough, but they did. People are acting like we had some sort of magical control over the game and we've executed the perfect away performance. I'm saying we got the perfect result with a bad performance. If you honestly thought we played well, fair enough.

On another day Luiz would have been sent off after 1 minute and we would have scored 5 so what's your point.

I'm sorry but you don't go to Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG and play open football. Not with the players we have at least. You restrict them and we did that very well and also looked dangerous going forward. If you think that is a poor performance then you should have seen us play Wimbledon at home when we got hammered 3-0 in the late 80's now that was a poor performance.

Nope, i'm living in a land where a team costing almost £250m, is able to exercise quality on the ball or control in a match against a decent side. If you think we did that tonight, fair enough.

We did at times. The game was played at a great intensity. Both sides pressured the other continually

Our 1st goal was class. There were some other good passages of play too. The opponents are good, and part of their job is to stop us playing.

Sent off? No chance. but agree. I thought it was a good performance marred a bit by the silly equaliser. We lost control after half time and for a while I thought it was going to go 3-1.

Well that's the other side of it. The only reason i spoke about their chances was because someone said we limited them, and whilst i half agree, i can also see how they could have 4 or 5 tonight given the 2 they had and the chances they missed.
