No idea what that Bony sub was all about

Overall considering how most of these players have performed this season it was very good performance. Still think a side with Silva, Aguero and De Bruyne should be creating more though imo
Jesus played well I thought, I dont understand the negative comments about him sometimes. He might not be as creative but he nearly never loses the ball, works non-stop, plays his part for the team.
He is what he is.Lots of pace, keeps the ball well but 9/10 his final ball is dire and his shooting is even worse. That said silva should have buried that header in the first half.

But he did. All i ever said was that some players were awful (Silva, Aguero, Navas, Otamendi, Clichy) and most of the ones who weren't awful, made really bad mistakes (Fernando - goal 1, Sagna - Penalty, Hart wasn't great for either goal, Fernandinho - goal 2, Mangala probably gave away a penalty which would have been a red card.

So i fail to see how that constitutes anything other than a poor overall performance, regardless of the excellent result. I wasn't even being negative with my first post. I was and still am delighted we played badly but got a great result.

I agree with you ono

We had 36% possession, which means PSG were controlling the game

Again, the result is good but the performance isnt that good

I will take that result all day long. A good result and it was particularly impressive how we fought back after going 2-1 down and in the manner we did ( their equaliser). The team showed spirit and was organised and solid at the back.

De Bruyne return was just what the team needed- lead the line today and our center backs did OK as well. We have the advantage on paper,it is still going to be a fight and it is all about finishing the job.

It is going to be a historic second leg and a great occasion.

Their possession/passes in the final third were nowhere near that, it was far more even than that stat suggests PSG 72% - City 69% which is far more significant considering we were the away team(anything less than a win is bad for the home team they were the ones who needed it more). Key passes even too PSG 11 City 10, couple that with some of their 16 shots being freekicks from far outside the box(half of which from clear dives!) the fact that we had 11 against them hardly shows them as a dominant force in this game... they just weren't. More importantly the stats that matter... both of their goal had a great deal of fortune about them.

Their first goal was undeserved and it did affect us for a long period after it(BT were praising us even before De Bruyne scored) continuing into the second half where the goal came from(that shouldn't have stood) and where the bulk of that possession came from. They are beatable believe it!

Great result, and unexpected too. One of the things I love about this football club. They'll let you down when you expect them to win, but then get a result against the odds. Typical City, and all that. I wouldn't have it any other way.

The second leg is far from a formality though. I'd say it's 60/40 in our favour now, which I'd have snapped your hands off yesterday.

Voted a draw in the poll but was thinking 1-1. Made up with the second away goal, think it'll make the difference over the two legs.
We weren't great, but then neither were they and for all their possession I think we were more than worthy of our equaliser.

BT BBC ITV SKY - as one
Lucky City Low quality Big Money etc etc

No other team endures this level of continuous disrespect. One day, one day soon, there will be a reckoning.

Even ITV news had to mention that it wasn't El Classico more like El Cashico - and mentioning that PSG and City are living off petro dollars.
I suppose we have to live with all this snidy remarks.

Did we get away without any injuries?

Benzema picked up what looks like a medial knee ligament injury. Be a big bonus if we are injury free. Watch the drinks trolley on the way back lads!

PSG will miss Matuidi. I didn't think he played very well, but he is their aggressive player in the absence of Veratti. Hoping Veratti will still be out. Not sure whether they will miss Luiz. He is quality going forward but a liability defensively.

I'd back us to go through now, but it promises to be an incredible game as PSG can play some great football when they take the hand brake off. We could boss the midfield if we play the same line up. I really think we should.

Ddn't we all slay city for being too attacking in the champs leaguein recent years? Maybe just maybe we learnt something even
I would have happily taken that result before the game but I'm very disappointed with it now. PSG were there for the taking tonight. I think we should have gone for it personally, PSG's legs had gone after 70-75 minutes but we didn't go at them with any conviction. We looked happy at 2-2 and I can understand that but I just think we could have finished the tie tonight if we had showed a bit more commitment going forward on the break in that last 15-20 minutes.
if the team is there for the taking?

They were fine when city were scraping through qualifiers and getting some decent results when it didn't matter - now we're half way through a quarter final with our noses in front and we have a real possibility of a semi - final appearance, the horrible possibility of City actually achieving European recognition - it's all getting too much for him, and the rag in him is kicking in! ( just like camel-gob earlier)
They were never fine actually.
Their pain makes it all the sweeter

I think so too. I thought we had a decent chance of a good result and would have taken a 2-1 defeat.

Let's hope that at last we make our mark in this competition. So many times we have messed up.

We really tried to win it - we brought Bony on - eeerrrrrr wait!

We do and they can all jolly well fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

fantastic result but still a lot of work to be done they cannot have as many chances as they had today , a lot of players looked nervous hopefully this result and the fact of being at home will calm them down.... damn we have missed kevin

Did you see our bench?

We start with our noses in front. Crucial. They'll have to come at us and wont be able to frustrate us playing a possession game. I also think we can boss them in midfield. They might just start Ibra away from home, but if we can keep them out, they'll have to bring Cavani on, and then we should outnumber them in midfield. We need to score first. I am sure they have a goal in them as they have as good attacking players as anyone. Indeed they hava great side. Thiago Silva in defence. Perhaps their midfield isn't the best without Veratti. And they'll miss Matuidi too. I'm hoping veratti isn't going to be back. It's only 6 days away so it sounds unlikely.

On another day Luiz would have been sent off after 1 minute and we would have scored 5 so what's your point.

I'm sorry but you don't go to Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG and play open football. Not with the players we have at least. You restrict them and we did that very well and also looked dangerous going forward. If you think that is a poor performance then you should have seen us play Wimbledon at home when we got hammered 3-0 in the late 80's now that was a poor performance.

In the last round Roma could have scored 3 before Real even got going. So were they lucky, or is it just us who can only be considered worthy if we don't give the opposition a chance or two (Ono)?
