Ever since last summer I felt Messi would leave Barcelona this window and I hoped he would come to City. He has now left Barcelona but gone to PSG. My attitude has changed though I still accept that Messi may have turned PSG into favourites for the CL. Messi's tearful display at his press conference and his constant references to Barcelona as "home" and to his anguish at leaving give a whole new significance to Pep's hopes that Messi would end his career at the Nou Camp; Pep may believe Messi cannot function at any other club. Add to that Messi's ego, which may well conflict with other strong personalities at the club and PSG's problems of dressing room cliques may not actually have improved. One last problem - another bullet City may have dodged - is that PSG may have to balance the books by "releasing" up to ten players. I do accept that Messi may lead PSG to great things but there is a possibility that all may not be sweetness and light.

Source re the releasing 10 players bit mate?

A source at Man City says they were "blindsided" by the developments, although high-ranking executives at the club did learn Messi was leaving a full 24 hours before the official announcement. They had not expected him to become available and had made alternative plans, signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for €100m while still pursuing Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Another source at the English club says there were brief talks and "some division" over whether to chase Messi again, but unlike last year, they were never really in the running this time.

Psg have more than doubled their twitter followers since Messi joined.
19.8m to 42.7m
Messi won't cost them a penny

Well le Parisen leaked his contract Details today :

1,6 M per Week ( 40M net )
40 Million signing on Fee

PSG have one of their own on UEFA board, Haven BeIn ties and Qatar World Cup. They can pay whatever they want and get away with anything.
We probably didn't want more scrutiny and Messi took us to ride thrice in past, Hence we moved on. Paris+Neymar + Friends probably made it easier choice

Just watched an interview with Messi and Balague and the first thing he says is that he’s learning French etc. Balague then mentions English and Messi goes on to say that he’s been learning English for the last 18 months or so.. may be putting two and two together but you get where I’m going with this. Maybe we were first choice in Messi’s mind.

What I hate is the way the Messi camp have used City over the last few years, getting us giddy every time. Then, when he does leave Barca, we're not even talked about as an option. Eyes only on PSG! Hope we get Kane or another striker & win champs League this year!

Its mentioned that City moved on and signed Grealish instead and we were no looking at Messi. Pep mentioned as much last week. Looks like City were not an option for Messi in the end.

Sad how it turned out. City was definitely a possibility just that timing was all wrong.

Good god!
I went to the Trafford Centre yesterday evening and spotted a 35+ year old in a PSG Messi 30 shirt!!!!!
Come on, where to start with that?
I’m nearly 40 and wear a city top here and there but to buy a club shirt who you had no interest in last week because a decent footballer had signed for them?
It made me cringe for some reason.
If it was a child you could understand
It was like PSG are now the new fashion
Deary me, i better get used to it

Maybe, but that shirt must only have been purchased in the last 48hrs and i havent seen many PSG shirts in or around south Manchetser previously.
Juventus, Real Madrid & Barca all the time.
We’ll probably see less & less Barcelona shirts now
