I've recently started playing poker in a pub poker league (Nuts poker league at the Spread Eagle in Chorlton) and have really found my love for poker again through it (top of the league at the moment). I want to start playing on a second night during the week (other than Tuesday) but I'd like to try a different league to see how they compare.

Do any of you play in a league anywhere in South Manchester? How is it structured? What's the quality of player like?

Do you ever get any Poker games sorted between the bluemooners? I went to one a few years back in Spinningfields with De Niro and 6 or 7 others and ballsed it up after buying back in 3 or 4 times as at the time I was well out of my league.

I remember the numerous buy ins you did that night and if I remember correctly you were unlucky on a couple of occasions. Gstar did say he was going to get a regular game going again but it never happened.

As for poker leagues I'm in north manc so not much use there but the nuts league have nights all over the place so another venue should be somewhere near.

yeah, it was a bad night for me. I got rivered a few times for big pots. And in fairness, I have done a lot more reading about the game and have a much better idea of best practices now. I'd quite like to get into another league other than nuts so I have the chance of more than 1 regional. I'll have to have a read up on the leagues available out there.

Would be good to get a game set up somewhere at some point. Even if it is just for me to get some redemption!

I've never bothered but seen plenty of pubs that do. I prefer casinos really.

I've heard the structures are terrible and the organisers rake extortionate.

Is this still the case?

Can imagine it been a bit of harmless fun if they have one in your local.

Played at a few different pubs in and around stockport mate but it was a couple of years ago. I like the idea of a Bluemoon game though. . .

A few of us play in a pub in Knutsford called the freemason's arms which is in the nuts poker league.
I know there are a couple of pubs in Urmston and Sale as well.

the crucible snooker club in stockport have a £10 rebuy every thursday and a £20+ 1 £20 add on at the break if you want it, you pay £3 with your first entry and those £3s get saved up and the top 27 in the rankings play a free roll for that pot at the end of a season
