Does anyone know any pubs round the murryfield area, that might have the villa game on? I know it's a bit of a long shot, but you never know!

Most of the pubs will have it on if its on sky . No Terrestrial footy up there

Started a topic on kickback a Hearts forum. The 2 places that they think will show English games are the Murryfield Bar and Robbos in Gorgie Road.I would choose the Murryfield Bar myself but beware as there is the Edinburgh derby game on earlier you might not get piece to watch the match if Hearts win earlier.
I'm coming down for the game on Saturday so is there any place near Piccadilly Station that will show the Hearts match before our game.

the father in law, is from leath, he says why bother hibs all the way....

Murrayfield Magic weekend I assume.

Given it's not on Sky and it's on the foreign channel you are going to struggle because every pub we went to last year put the rugby on to cater for those of us who preferred to watch the other games in the pub and just head to Murrayfield to watch our own teams!:)

I assume from your location that you want to be there for 5pm for Salford v Warrington, so it needs to be local to the ground.

If you don't mind missing a few minutes, the best place to try would be round The Grassmarket area or maybe Rose Street.

Given how things have panned out, I'm glad I decided to give Edinburgh a miss this year.:)

-- Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:49 am --

Terrace Sprorts bar at the station itself might. Failing that, Varsity on Oxford Road will show both that game and the Premier League game if you ask nicely.

Cheers for the info mate...yeah i'm a bit pissed off missing city, but its my Uncle's 40th do as well as the rugby, so couldn't really say no.

I wasn't aware its Hearts v Hibbs the same day, i just cant believe they have planned the rugby to be on the same weekend..typical RFL naivity!

Not RFL fault, the SPL have a split for the last 5 games,so the RFL would not know when this game is getting played. Not to worry though the derby game is on the other side of the city.It seems most pubs in the Gorgie area next to Tynecastle Park,10 mins walk from Murryfield show EPL from foreign channels.Getting peace to watch in some classy joints though is another thing.lol.

We had the same problem in Feb. Loads of us went up for a wedding and went in search of a pub to watch the Stoke F.A Cup game in Edinburgh centre.....all in vain as every single pub had the Rugby on!

Wasn't even fooking Scotland who was playing!

Murrayfield is an awful place to watch football.

The Queens Arms, which is on Frederick Street in the city centre is a cracking boozer to watch the football in. Frederick Street is just off George Street, and the Queens Arms is actually in the cellar.

Loads of tellys with all sorts of football on, always a good crowd in and it also does some cracking food.

I normally watch the City sky games at the Globe on Niddry Street just off the Royal Mile down the side of the Bank Hotel. Don’t know if they will have the Villa game on but they do show games on foreign channels sometimes (I think) – never been in on a Saturday afternoon though.

You could give them a call (0131) 5574670 and see if they are showing it – will take about 15 mins to Murrayfield in a taxi.
