It's funny isn't it that when Leeds changed it was accepted and when Allison launched the red/black he openly talked of the reason. There was an outcry when Allison did that - but only because of it not being our traditional away colour of maroon - had Allison found a maroon kit and said it was based on a Milan 2nd kit or something no one would've moaned.
Nowadays if City launched a kit and said that it was based on Bayern, Barca or any other perceived giant and Pep openly talked about copying another club we'd all be highly critical but back then it was acceptable. Personally, I wish we'd added the Inter Milan blue and black as a 3rd kit at some point but these days striped kits are difficult to make look good due to the names, sponsors, patches etc. I'm always keen on diagonals so long as they have MCFC legitimacy and maroon as that is City's most used colour after blue/white and goes back at least 100 years. I'd love to see maroon trims on the home kit like we once had, or at least maroon and sky blue socks. In terms of socks - I'm convinced our earliest dark socks were black not navy. Coloured illustrations from the period suggest they're black. Sadly, we'll never know for certain.
Allison want to change the first choice to red/black stripes but there was no way it was going to be accepted. He was keen on the stripes as it makes the player look bigger, this was Revie's reason to switch to all white for Leeds
Maybe because darker colours are "slimming"?Not sure I follow that argument- Allison wanted us to switch to stripes because it makes the players look bigger; but Revie switches Leeds from yellow and blue stripes to all white to make them look bigger?? Sorry have I missed something?

If it was predictable then they'd probably sell fewer kits as there would be less incentive to be seen in the latest kit (assuming most people who buy shirts are that way inclined). In London, I tend to see people walk around in away kits just as often as I do home kits. Would be interesting to know what the split in sales between home/away/third is.To be honest whether it's maroon or black & red, I wish we just had a predictable away kit.
Navy this year, Pink/Maroon last year, Black with red sleeves the year before, Navy in 2015/16 and 2014/15, black in 2013/14, Milan stripes in 12/13.
Just settle on something, even if it alternated predictable between Milan and Maroon, and then let Nike do whatever fluoro design brings in the sales for a 3rd.
indeed.I love the fact tha with the exception of a small handful of teams across Europe, City and sky blue are synonymous.
They stop wearing strips in 1934 long before Revie, when he got here it was dark blue with yellow trim for home and reversed for awayNot sure I follow that argument- Allison wanted us to switch to stripes because it makes the players look bigger; but Revie switches Leeds from yellow and blue stripes to all white to make them look bigger?? indeed.
Our improved European standing will enhance that further.
