Pundits and TV coverage

My stream was setanta and it was very very negative throughout.

Constant mentions of the crowd being quiet, impatient and entitled. Little sly digs about how our ambition used to be to achieve 'glorious failure' and look forlornly across the road at our great neighbours. Mentions of 'the city fans expecting the quadruple' but that's now a distant memory due to being beaten 2-0 by Barcelona. I don't know a single city fan who 'expects' the quadruple.

They used a lot of negative words and example being that our players 'trudged' off at half time. There was also mention of 'that man demechelis' every time he touched the ball as though he gives away 5 penalties and 5 own goals a game.

I've also noticed an awful lot that the punditry is usually about what the opposition needs to do get something out of the game. Ways to 'get at' city (quote from today). Ways to get back in the game etc.

It's pathetic.

I couldn't justify travelling up for a fourth time in ten days today so watched the same coverage. Bloody awful it was. Left the post match stuff on and that was equally negative.

Very rarely do I watch our game with commentary. First thing I do is mute the fuckers. I can judge for myself whether we are playing well or not without the snide remarks.

Totally agree, I don't miss many matches, 2 this season but I mute the commentary and then put on Radio Manchester and listen to Ian Cheeseman. Then, if he is with Fred Eyre, I have to turn that off as well. When I'm at the match and I record it I watch it when I get home and always end up turning down the commentary.

Until this season I took the agenda/bias argument with a pinch of salt but not any more!

Just an observation, I couldnt make the game today but my season ticket was used by a member of family, i did manage to watch via a stream most of the match, not the greatest game but we won which is vital at this stage of the season, however at a quiet point in the game mid-way thru the second half the TV (English via SKY I think) panned the crowd, it focused on firstly a very obese female city fan glugging a bottle of pop, then some fans who were not really looking at the pitch and game but an emphasis was made of a lot of empty seats next to them, then focused on another girl (fat again ! ) not remotely interested in the game, playing with her mobile.... then it struck me these pictures were taken at half time, but inserted into the game as though it was live, WHY would the TV companies do this.... ??? Agenda, yes I think so. Any angle they can find to put us down it seems, also english commentators were very critical of empty seats and lack of atmosphere.

How dare they let the fat mamas in!!

City, ruining crowd aesthetics since 2008

May I suggest that all ladies entering the ground need to jump on the scales at the turnstiles - anyone tipping the scales over 10 stone can't get in. .......

If this is the biggest of our problems, we're not doing too bad

The cnut commentators on the Setanta stream mentioned that we struggled against a team that only had one victory in nine games. Which team they beat wasn't mentioned though.

Demichelis got loads of stick and has cost us dearly several times this season apparently. That he had a decent game didn't change their view.

We weren't at our best but if this was a Rags game they would probably have been praised for winning when they are struggling, what Champions are made of etc etc

All the nonsense I heard during the game was shocking.

100% there is an agenda.

They need to feed the plastics.

More so now than ever before.
I have a feeling that it's going to get increasingly desperate as the horrible reality sinks in , and there's going to be some. Intriguing u-turns as the whole balance shifts.
Looking forward to it though.

The atmosphere is shit and the more media mention it the more likely we will do something about it. We used to be known for unfailing support yet the 'lesser' games now seem to be like training matches for the lack of passion - three barely full blocks of stoke singing 'shall we sing a song for you' is embarrassing. No doubt next Sunday all will be great but we need to carry that on at home games.

I worry the extension will make it worse as happened at the swamp

why do we get wound up about this shite ? thousands of posts on different threads on this subject . They dont like us , we dont care , lets just fill our trophy cabinet , and watch the best squad of footballers around .
