How dare you compare the rat faced yonner to the great Tony Benn!The standard of football punditry winds me up. Why do we even need a co-commentator at all? What value do they bring? There's no insight, more inanity.
If we have to have one then I want them to tell me why one team is winning the midfield battle, how the defence is set up or what tactical tweaks the manger has made to change the game. To educate me, in other words.
In virtually any other sport, the pundits are knowledgeable and articulate. In football, they're gener banal and just blather on about anything that comes into their heads.
That's why Gary Neville was a breath of fresh air initially, as he provided insight that you didn't see for yourself. But since he turned into Bury's answer to Tony Benn, he's not been worth listening to.

Agreed -ex Dallas QB Tony Romo was a sensation a few years back actually predicting the Plays in advance in the Live NFL Games explaining his reasoning as it went along and was invariably correct.The standard of football punditry winds me up. Our game hasn’t got the same stop start aspect to it but surely getting someone who could explain the Tactics a bit better would help your average viewer see what’s going on let alone alighting some of us fools who reckon we know the score!!

Watch all games on mute now. Pundits add nothing and are almost as inane as player interviews. Irrespective of the sport there can be nothing worse than listening to a player interview; it’s just the same hackneyed phrases and bland dross.

I found it slightly uncomfortable viewing last night watching Souness and Keane agreeing away with each other every 30 seconds about the good old days. With the lady sat in the middle getting talked across and pretty much ignored. I used to find Souness quite refreshing and honest but he seems to have slipped into dinosaur mode a bit recently.
