Saw them in May 2 days running st the Cruel World festival but it was only Vanian as the others were vaxx free.
You mean it was only Vanian and no Captain Sensible ?

What's happened re Brian?
I was SO tempted to go to this gig. They were the first Punk band I loved, and are still by far my favourites. They had the humour many seemed to lack. Saw them many times from Electric Circus to Apollo. My hesitance comes from exactly that. I think I prefer to remember them as they were in their heyday ... but then I think, but it's the original line up once last time ffs!!
Yes. Vanian. Sensible is one of Ian Brown's pals so he couldn't travelYou mean it was only Vanian and no Captain Sensible ?
I've heard he had to be escorted to the stage on Friday and hardly moves the whole gig.

A great night last night at the Apollo. Absolutely packed and a storming set. Brian looks in a bad way but no problem with his playing. Rat setting his drums in fire at the end and Captain smashing up his bass.I've heard he had to be escorted to the stage on Friday and hardly moves the whole gig.
I enjoyed the gig but had i known that they'd play only their first and second albums i would have gave it a swerve, especially at £70 a ticket. New Rose and Neat Neat Neat are probably my favourite tracks but i thought they sounded pretty shit last night tbh. I like half a dozen or so tracks but the rest were tracks I haven't heard in donkeys years.A great night last night at the Apollo. Absolutely packed and a storming set. It was all professionally filmed so no doubt it will be out on disc shortly.
Just watching 1000 Vampires (a very different gig that I was also at) which is a real contrast. Their diversity and entertainment is probably the reason why I've kept listening and watching since the Strawberries Nuns tour at the Apollo in October 1982.
Sorry to hear that, I thought the publicity when the tickets came out said it would only be the first two albums and covers from that time.I enjoyed the gig but had i known that they'd play only their first and second albums i would have gave it a swerve, especially at £70 a ticket. I realise those two albums were Brian James on lead before he left the band but rather than play most of the album tracks i would have liked him to have learnt some of their best crowd favourite tracks. I felt a bit letdown as my two mates did.
The first band Small town Tigers i thought sounded decent as did TV Smith(ex Adverts front man) topped off by Gary Gilmore's Eyes. And Penetration were decent and Don't Dictate was excellent. Overall it was a good night, but.
What made it worse is i could have strolled up and paid a tout 40 quid for a ticket, ah well. James hasn't got another tour in him unfortunately due to ill health, Scabies I'd like to see again as he's a great drummer and has a somewhat unique style. I think Algy Ward played base on the Black Album tour in 80, not sure though, could have been Paul Gray ?Sorry to hear that, I thought the publicity when the tickets came out said it would only be the first two albums and covers from that time.
Later on it was announced that a new album would be released followed by a tour and Scabies/James would not be part of that. It will be back to Captain on lead with Paul Gray on bass and new guy Will on drums. I suspect tickets will be cheaper and venues smaller with more well known tunes played.
Having heard a small number of DDD tunes and nothing of MfP over the past 40 years I was quite pleased on how some sounded live particularly You Know with the sax.
As for the sound, I thought it was just me at the time thinking it was too loud. 24hrs later and my ears haven't fully recovered.
I didn't see Small Town Tigers but thought TV Smith was pretty good. A little disappointed with Penetration though.
I was upstairs to the front left with a good view and I suspect a fair few downstairs will be feeling some aches and pains today.
As I said, I thought it was a great night particularly for the energy levels shown by 60 somethings and I've now seen most of the line ups over the last 40 years except for Algy and some of the fleeting incarnations such as The Doomed.
Will I see them again, maybe, but I was getting tired of what were becoming "hits" type tours and used to use the inevitable Smash It Up encore as a chance to "beat the traffic"(c) MCFC Supporters. The Royal Albert Hall in 2016, Palladium in 2019 and this gig had freshened my interest in seeing them live because of the span of music or the concept.
