On a very special episode of Punk Till I Die, Neil got the chance to interview Mark Burgess of The Chameleons before their recent Chicago show. There’s a lot of in-depth talk of Manchester in the late 70s/early 80s including Mark’s adventure to see the Sex Pistols famous 1977 Xmas gig in Huddersfield! We also talk early Chameleons gigs, Manchester venues, favorite albums, Mark’s other projects, record collecting and what’s going on with the band currently. All music by The Chameleons.

I put a video on 'What Are You Watching On YouTube Right Now' earlier about El Salvador and I vaguely remembered a punk song called El Salvador that I haven't heard for about 40 years. My mate bought the single in 82 from Attack records in the old underground market in town. I searched for it on YouTube and here it is by Wigan band The Insane. I think I may have seen them supporting a band but my mind is hazy after 40 years.
Have you heard of the band, heard this track or seen them live?
Have a listen, it's a good track.

Interesting, and thanks. I've seen Discharge and FOPI back in the day, maybe even The Insane as a support band, but I can't be sure though.I know some of the original line up of the
I know most of the lads who played in this group, I was in the same.class as the drummer, David Ellesmere and friends with Steve Prescot who played base, Barry Taberner was a good mate of my brother, he played lead I think. They played at the local punk.club called Trucks and pretty good live, this was around 1979 1980. Dave left to play with Discharge and then Flux of Pink Indians. He moved to Berlin and has wrote and produced music. He also DJs at Festivals and clubs mainly house/ electro music and has a decent following by all accounts.
