I saw them at Rebellion a couple of years ago and didn't recognise him at all until he spoke and that's despite seeing them live 20 or 30 times, it was the complete lack of hair that threw me more though.Someone on Facebook posted a picture of SLF last year, and I said it wasn't SLF as Jake isn't on the picture. 5 other folk replied that he was!

They play a home gig every August in Custom House Sq. In Belfast and still put on a great show. And the crowd is getting bigger every year recently.I saw them at Rebellion a couple of years ago and didn't recognise him at all until he spoke and that's despite seeing them live 20 or 30 times, it was the complete lack of hair that threw me more though.
He has mental health issues and I think like a lot of us struggled with lockdown and never really got his weight/health back to where it was so I just hope he's doing OK. They still play a phenomenal gig though.
Bigger individually or bigger crowd numbers ;)They play a home gig every August in Custom House Sq. In Belfast and still put on a great show. And the crowd is getting bigger every year recently.
Seen them twice in last 2 years having not previously seen them since late 80s. I think they're still as good now, if not better. Probably the best original punk band still touring.Bigger individually or bigger crowd numbers ;)
Or both lol
Love SLF my first gig July 1980 Coventry Locarno
No John, No Pistols, But this young lad is Good and is 100% nutter
Yeah. That guy is decent enough and thankfully doesn’t try to go into being a tribute act, but it’s just not the same. A few years back the Dead Kennedys played literally less than a mile down the street from me. I love all their albums, but without Jello Biafra, what’s the point?I had zero interest in seeing them without Lydon.
I agree - yet at the same time The Stranglers never got the same kind of criticism the Pistols are getting and how many vocalists have they had since Hugh Cornwall left?Yeah. A mate of mine, now living in Adelaide, Oz, went to see them last week and said they were brilliant with a large crowd - and only JJB remains!
I don't see any flack that Steve Diggle is receiving for carrying on Buzzcocks without Pete Shelley.
I get what you're saying, but I guess the difference is that both The Stranglers and Buzzcocks didn't break up when Cornwell and Shelley 'left', so there was that continuity. The Pistols reforming without the main protagonist feels differentI agree - yet at the same time The Stranglers never got the same kind of criticism the Pistols are getting and how many vocalists have they had since Hugh Cornwall left?

I think the difference is that so much of who the Pistols and DK were was tied up in the attitude and persona of the lead singer. Undertones, Buzzcocks, Stranglers were much more of band, a collective, if that makes sense.I agree - yet at the same time The Stranglers never got the same kind of criticism the Pistols are getting and how many vocalists have they had since Hugh Cornwall left?
