Puressence? How come they never made it big?

Great band from round the corner from where I grew up in Failsworth. I was mates with one of JM's brothers (same school) and was round at their house quite a bit at one stage. I remember their dog and a City lampshade. Mum was a massive character locally and dad was a quieter guy from Hungary.

I thought they were a great band. Probably too good to make it; they didn't do much poppy stuff. I'm interested to hear the new record when it comes out in the summer, and hopefully see them live.

Randomly massive in Greece too with proper chart hits and everything.
They ended up headlining a massive outdoor gig over there when headline act Depeche Mode had to cancel due to sickness.
A Greek lad I used to work with in London was always asking when I was next going to see them as he was desperate to tag along. Unfortunately he didn't start asking until after they'd split up!

Great news - saw them in a venue in Northampton - acoustics were great - the singer came out and sung in the middle of the audience to hear it

Few people on here have said that JM is a blue.
I went to their last gig at Gorilla in town. It was the same night we got beat off Wigan in the Cup Final. He came out laughing his bollocks off and giving us loads of stick.
Now I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but he sounded more like a rag than a blue.

He's a blue. He's also a bit of a pisshead so laughs a lot. I remember attempting to chat to him in the Sawyer's Arms before a gig and he just laughed in my face saying "you're mad"!

Yeah I've vague memories of them at the Apollo supporting the Carpets or the Charlatans a decade or so ago.
Yes, same here. I'm sure they supported Inspiral Carpets at the Apollo. Shaun Rider came on in the encore.

Yeah I was at that one! Was Shaun so fucked he ended up sitting on a chair for the encore?

Ha ha, yeah he was!
The main thing I remember about that gig were some arseholes at the front. I was standing there minding my own business when a load of Burburry and Stone Island knobs were eyeballing and slamming into me. Probably a"firm" or something, well hard, 15 against 1. Great gig though.
