Pussy Riot

Presumably these girls do actually live in Russia. Therefore, they must have had some idea that their actions were not going to go down too well down Kremlin Close. And yet they still went ahead and did it. Very noble, maybe; but very, at best, naive. Yes; freedom of speech is a cornerstone of any democracy. I couldn't agree more. But Russia is not a democracy. These girls have learned that if you rattle Putin's cage, you do so at your peril. All they can hope for is that the enormous (massive, even; sorry!) international media coverage of this story might persuade Putin and his lackies in the Russian judicial system to perhaps reduce the sentence.
 
My question is, why should anyone care about anything that happens in other countries - barring natural disasters - unless you live there or know someone living there who is getting affected.

It's not who's doing it it's what's being done,a cold brutal method of stopping disent.
But i'm sure a hell of a lot of people in this Country wouldn't mind if in certain circumstances our goverment acted in the same way.....like storm the Ecuador Embassy drag that pasty face twat out slap him put him on a plane to Sweden,jobs a good un.

2 years for attending church is much better than being taken indefinitely by authorities if you mentioned anything to do with religion during Communist Russia.

Look how much things have evolved. There used to be no court, you were taken and never seen again for months, years, forever...

Why restrict it to events in another country that no one should care about?

What about anything that happens outside your home city?
Or not on your street?
Or not in your house?
Why care about anything?

And on a side issue, why are natural disasters given an exemption?
Who the fuck cares about them, nothing you can do about them?

Absolutely. I'm amazed that no one seems to have pointed out the obvious - Pussy riot are shit, their song was shit, I have seen 2 yr olds dress themselves better, and it looks like they can't dance either.
Silly little girls trying to pull the old stunt of using shock value to overcome lack of talent and it's backfired on the silly bitches. TBH I'm sure most people would expect to be sent to Siberia for a good bumming if they publicly attacked the Orthodox Church / Putin regime in Russia and if these girls didn't neatly fit the Western anti Putin/Russia agenda I doubt we would ever have heard about this. I also suspect that if the media hadn't run with this one they would have actually had a more minor slap on the wrist rather than the two year stretch they now face - although I realise you could argue the opposite is true. Don't fuck with Russia, they are a proper old school State, but we need stuff like this so we can all appreciate what a fantastic democracy we live in in the UK/USA!
