So does that mean the dead-cert £2bn deal to buy the rags is on ice then?

Hahaha! It would seem so...good news for Paris - it's a top club that really hasn't come close to realizing it's potential...I'm sure there'll be a few quid for transfers for them this summer.

can an owner only own 1 team in Europe?

I thought Roman owned a Russian club as well.

One of his companies - Sibneft, were the main sponsor of CSKA Moscow for a few years a while back, but not any more.

I will be keeping a close eye on PSG from now on then.

On a side note, i have just realised Monaco have been relegated form ligue 1! Cant believe that!

Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Qatari investors have bought a controlling 70% stake in the club, ending months of speculation about who the Ligue 1 outfit's new owners would be.

PSG's former owners, the American group Colony Capital, revealed back in December 2010 that they were looking for new investors and that search has reportedly led them to Qatar Investment Authority, an investment arm of the Qatari government.

Colony Capital have had a controlling stake in PSG since 2006, but will now pass on overall ownership to the Qatari group, though they will remain 30% shareholders.

A statement read: "Colony Capital and an investment company in Qatar have announced that they have finalised a draft agreement under which the new partner becomes a 70 percent shareholder in Paris Saint Germain with Colony Capital keeping 30 percent.

"This partnership follows the will of Colony to ensure the development and growth of PSG in the long term. Collectively, Colony and its new partner will continue the work initiated at PSG in the last five years to further enhance its influence and visibility."

The takeover comes after PSG finished fourth in Ligue 1, their highest league placing since 2004 - though the capital club have struggled with holligan problems off the pitch in recent years.
