I keep hearing these rumours about from rags about the glazers selling these sheiks from qatar and how their going to be signing all these top players, and the latest one being that their statement of intent (robinho style) should they get ownership would be to re-sign ronaldo (rumours of him being un happy). Now i'm not too bothered as we'll continue on our path to sucess whether this happens or not. Also though i hear a sheik from qatar has bought malaga FC and i've been reading up on this through the little their is on the internet. I like the idea of a 'spanish city' so would be interested in malaga doing well. But basically i have a list of questions and would like some help from other bluemooners

1.Is the sheik from qatar who's after united super rich?
2. How rich is he? say compared to our owner
3. Is it the same sheik who already owns malaga? is their some rules against this?
and 4. What does everyone else think to the idea of malaga becoming a spanish version of city?

p.s ade's been linked with them as the star signing (again like robinho style). Look in the transfer forum for more detail

I think it is great as long as they do it properly like sheik mansour and his cronies.

4.

In my opinion, although it may heat up La Liga somewhat, it would take a lot more than just money to topple Madrid/Barca's duopoly.

It'd be interesting to see, but now that the FFP regulations are coming in, they'll need to work hard to try and make sure the club makes an operating profit, thus limiting the amount of cash they can throw around.

Not too bothered what comes of it really, though in an ideal world, all clubs would be fan owned.

Don't give a fuck if he does buy them, at least some of the anti-Arab xenophobia in the press will relent as will the tiresome, hand-wringing talk by media lackeys of 'foreign owners blah blah blah' if a media darling club is suddenly owned by them (yes, I know they already are, but white owners from the Anglosphere don't count, it seems).

We'll still be in a position to compete. It's not disaster, it's just competition.

I'm not sure there's anything in the United link to be honest, they're loaded, if they want them they would of bought them, like Sheikh Mansour did here. However you never know, as for Malaga, I knew they'd just appointed Pellegrini which I thought was a brilliant move, and I was wondering how they'd manage to attract him, didn't realise they'd been bought out.

It's always a bad sign when you get ''will they/won't they'' saga around buy-outs - with serious investors, you don't hear much if anything about it, until it's done.

Very true.IIRC, I don't remember hearing that much about the takeover here until a day or two before it actually went through.

Pellegrini was a seriously fantastic appointment for them, but we're worlds apart from Malaga. It doesn't sound like they're going to spend anywhere near the same amounts as we have (especially with the new financial regulations coming in). So I really can't see them buying Ade outright, whether they'd be willing to pay his wages on loan...I'm not so sure, it'd still be a fortune, although the marquee aspect would appeal. Think it's just the Spanish press joining in with silly season tbh.

You're not the only one!

It was a complete shock to me when the better half texted to tell me what was happening on 31st August 2008.

Arabs buy City:

"Man City...dirty, filthy, nasty camel-jockey money...ruining football...meat pies...hot pot...tradition...all gone".

Arabs buy rags:

*Media huddle to re-set narrative*

"Man United...sound, forward, progressive, cosmopolitan Arab nobility...benefactors...meat pies...chips and gravy...tradition...secured".
