If we were sat back struggling & Spurs took advantage, then it indicates Pep was wrong. We weren't, we had done the trick, got on top & were going for the win. Then our players, fucked up a simple defensive job.
This is the truth.

It isn't abuse though is it? Or an attack or abuse on Pep for a couple of posters to say they think he made a mistake.
I think some of the ott comments on posters who see something differently because it goes against the grain or popular opinion is bollocks at times too but I understand why they feel that way or get heated defending Pep.
As has been mentioned football is fine margins. Aguero scores the penalty it could have been a totally different game and result and their goal was poor defending from us.
I understand why he chose that lineup and his thinking behind it and we almost got away with it aside from individual mistakes at both ends of the pitch. I just feel the away leg was the one we should gave been braver and gone for it more than the home leg, without being reckless. Spurs are no Liverpool on the counter attack and by not playing this approach away, we now have to take those risks at home, with the added fear of conceding an away goal.
If we get through all well and good but I fear we may regret our approach to the away tie. Kane and possibly Ali injured may help us although there is a thought Spurs may be a bit more fluent without one or two of those.
He approached last year's quarter final at Anfield differently than he approached Spurs the other night, he tried to play on the front foot at Anfield and it blew up in his face.
If anything the approach to Spurs was similar to the approach at Anfield in the league this season, which worked.
I agree too. I think he very much had that Anfield game in mind when he selected his team for Spurs, but that does not mean it was the right thing to do. Spurs are quite a cautious side under Poch, & I don't think they were going to try and blow us away in the way that Liverpool did last season. He approached last year's quarter final at Anfield differently than he approached Spurs the other night, he tried to play on the front foot at Anfield and it blew up in his face.

Get to fuck, what's funny about spurs winning the CL? We wouldn't hear the end of it, ever.If the unthinkable happens and we go out the CL to Spuds the following could happen which would be very funny:
1) We win the domestic treble (a great season I think everyone would agree.
2) Dippers finish second in the league (winning nothing- brilliant!)
3) Arsenal finish 3rd in the league ( winning nothing- result!)
4) Rags finish 4th in the league (why this is funny will be revealed)
5) Chelsea finish 5th in the league and win Europa cup ( necessary for the funny ending)
6) Spuds finish 6th in the league and win CL (necessary for funny ending).
In this scenario the rags would finish 4th in the league, win nothing and NOT qualify for CL as both the CL winners and Europa League winners automatically qualify and one country can have a maximum of 5 teams in the CL so 4th place in PL would miss out.
Admittedly the only downside to this is Chelsea winning Europa and Spuds winning CL but can you imagine how gutted the rags would be after celebrating a shitty 4th place only to see their dumb faces drop when CL spot is taken away from them.
Wouldn't it be better if none of them win anything and united just finished 5th or 6th?If the unthinkable happens and we go out the CL to Spuds the following could happen which would be very funny:

Yes but it was more the thought of the rags celebrating finishing 4th with the prospect of CL football and claiming Ole the savour, then the realisation that it would be taken away. A bit like when the camera cut to baconface and Jones immediately after the Aguerooooo momentWouldn't it be better if none of them win anything and united just finished 5th or 6th?
Pep has had loads of insults & abuse & people claiming he can't manage on these occasions. I'm not talking about you or Marvin.
But you, & some others, are assuming City would have won by attacking more & playing KDB etc. We have just struggled like fuck trying to do that v Brighton. We could have just as easily missed a couple of chances & lost 3-0. We took the sting out of the game & were dominating, looking for a winning goal when they scored.
This was Spurs' big night & we should have beaten them. We would have, if individuals hadn't let us down.
*Waits for someone to post ‘best scenario is beating Spurs’*
by 5+ goals ....please
That would be funny. Not sure I could deal with the English media when Rodney Trotter recieves his knighthood though.Yes but it was more the thought of the rags celebrating finishing 4th with the prospect of CL football and claiming Ole the savour, then the realisation that it would be taken away. Why the hell did that thread get moved into this one??by +2 goals ....please
Fuck knows! Why the hell did that thread get moved into this one??
Is the correct answer.just beat spurs and qualify
Ok thanks for clearing that up.
Come on Brighton and Spurs are two totally different styles. No way would they use the tactics Brighton did at home against us. We have beaten Spur's a good few tines lately playing our strongest eleven and our normal game. We didn't have to be reckless or gung ho but I feel the away leg was the one to be more adventurous, due to the importance of the away goals rule. As we are losing Spur's can sit back and hit us on the break and utilise set pieces. We now have to be more gung ho with the added danger of conceding an away goal which would make our task a lot harder.
We obviously have a great chance of progressing as we are capable of scoring a few against anyone at home, we are also vulnerable to letting one or two in as well.
