Even if we beat them, I still think he got it wrong

He has bottled it. I haven't read a single logical explanation for his tactics. I know what we was trying to do, but it doesn't make sense. If your opponent is weaker, you open the game up with De Bruyne and Sane. No he has created a situation now where SPurs need one goal to KO us from the quadruple and you're being selfish by letting someone else ask the questions you should all be asking.

And who would you like on here to explain his tactics - good god marv, you have come out with some gems today. Chill

Stadium is pretty. Access around the outside of the ground is awful for away fans, access to the stadium up the steps and in through the portable scanners was ridiculously slow and awkward. Bloody long walk to Seven Sisters after, too.

Haha, you might not be the first person to complain about the long walk to Seven Sisters.

So we are to believe this was a tactical defeat? Utter nonsense, a collosal fuck up.which does nothing only pile the pressure on more like. Bringing on De Bruyne and Sane in the 89th minute wasn't the actions of a man at ease with his game plan. I dont think many see Zidane as a master coach yet he won 3 champions leagues in a row. Any the situation can be retrieved but he hasn't half made it more difficult than it should have been.

It isn't about his gameplan, it is about his management of the situation we are in, there is a bigger picture.

He doesn't want to sacrifice the CL or the title because he wants to win them all and taking it easy with the busiest and most difficult fixture run coming up is the only way to do it.

We could of spent loads of effort battering Spurs last night but why when there is another leg? We could afford to lose providing the score was acceptable and 1-0 is. We only lost because we missed a penalty anyway and had Aguero scored that the tie would be almost over.

We can't afford the same luxuries this weekend or in any game afterwards so it makes sense to take one last chance to rest up key players, especially when you consider KDB has been injured most of the season.

I'd have done a better job. I'd have played De Bruyne and Sane for a start.

If you can't criticise a coach when he makes obvious errors, then when can you?

Whatever mistakes Pep makes, anyone on here who thinks they would ever do a better job at any time is sorely deluded.

Maybe it would have been better to start Sane and KDB; I definitely would have brought them on sooner but Pep had good reasons for selecting the team he did and the tactics. The gameplan was a good one imo and it was not the manager's fault that it didn't quite work. You could choose to blame Pep for letting Aguero take the penalty - I'd have had Gundo as the designated man for spot kicks last night - but there's no guarantee he would have scored.

Extremely sensible post pal!

It’s a sore one today that loss. Proper punch in the stomach. Us fans need to get the ground rocking next week and I believe we will have enough in our armoury to go through .
Whatever Peps plans were I believe he got it wrong last night, I just think we should have had the emphasis to get that away goal, they was rocking after Kane went off and the crowd became subdued, we surely should have gone for the jugular in that phase and brought on our most deadly weapons in Sane and Kev.
Win both half’s next week and job done! Up the blues

Plenty keep banging on about us managing games and being in third gear during recent games, that's rubbish as far I am concerned.

Does managing games also entail not playing well, and failing to make the most of improving the goal difference against teams such as Fulham and Cardiff?

If anything, it is Pep who is managing the games. He sees the players every day, knows what challenges are ahead and, quite rightly, hedged his bets last night around a two-legged game, with huge fixtures to follow against Spurs and United.

We haven't performed well since the Chelsea thrashing, Pep clearly knows that, regardless of what he might say in public about the team or certain players.

A 1-0 defeat at Spurs would surely have been deemed acceptable against a top-four team with a home tie to come, everything else is many being wise after the event.

1-0 isn't a terrible result, we are still in the tie and more than capable of turning it around at home. The away goal would have been nice, but not worth chasing at the expense of conceding with the second leg still to come. Have to agree with a lot of the posts about KDB and Sane not coming on early enough, maybe bringing Sane on the left would have exposed Delph a bit more, but its a gamble I would have taken earlier, and unless there is something we are unaware of regarding KDB's fitness bringing him on for Dave would not have weakened the team at all in my opinion.

Don't agree with some suggesting Laporte should have played left back, he has been one of the best centre backs in the league all season, and should play there for the rest of the season. Danillo missing was a strange one, presume he was injured or i would have though he would get in ahead of Delph and possibly even Walker.

It sets it up nicely for next Wednesday though, can't wait for it, hopefully the atmosphere will be like last year against Liverpool, and at the turn of this year. We need to be completely behind the team, and boo them everytime they are on the ball!!!
