If you could get your child microchipped when very young in a painless and inexpensive way, so that if they ever get lost/kidnapped you could immediately track them via GPS, would you?

Without hesitation, as long as we were the ONLY people with the information. Therein lies the problem.....

Yes without doubt ! I have a 15 year old daughter and for Christmas she got an iPhone . Part of the agreement was that I can log into her " find my iphone " app and see where she is ( I know it's where her phone is but hopefully she is with it ! ) . It scares me how many cranks and weirdos are out their !

Can this be done on an ipod?

I wouldn't, I know there's plenty of cranks out there but microchipping people just isn't right IMO, there's plenty of people out there that can hack into practically anything so you could be making a rod for your own back. Leruzin's way is a whole lot better.

Yes I think it can as long as its connected to wifi . It's free on the App Store

The best bit is they have the chip for life, no more searching rivers and missing people posters. A swift system to find someone could save many a life. Child or adult.

Presuming they want to be found of course.

How many of those saying 'yes' know somebody who's child has been kidnapped? I mean really know them and not just a story you've read in the news.

I don't but both of my lad's have "gone missing" for about 5 minutes and the sheer panic is like nothing I have ever experienced.

But having them 'chipped' would not stop them 'going missing' or you panicking either.

If it was like they do with dogs and a warden found a kid in the street would they then take said kid to the kids home and charge the owner £90 to get 'em back.

I don't think it would help in locating a missing child. I'm pretty sure that all GPS devices need a power source. It would only work to identify someone when scanned.

Yes without a doubt if i ever have kids. Of course, they have to be able to be tracked by satellite rather than being dependent on phone signals or wifi.
