flying in tomorrow morning with my wife and 8 year old daughter. From Brittania Sachas hotel, will a taxi be best and what time does City Square open for pre match entertainment. Thanks in advance for any help

Hate to say this at such late notice, but.....change hotels

Lol, thanks bluwes but it was. a late booking and this was one of the few hotels left which was nearby. It supposedly has a pool so that'll keep the little one entertained on Sunday morning. As long as it's not rag central we'll be fine as we'll all be sporting our colours for the duration of the stay

Buses run to the ground from just round the corner in Piccadilly Square.
There are trams from nearby Piccadilly railway station, anyone local can direct you there.
But a taxi is probably your best option, the ground is not very far away.

Many thanks Len Run. Very grateful. Can you advise what time City Square opens? It's hard to keep an 8 year old girl solely football focused lol
Bluwes, you've got me worried about the hotel now you rascal!!!

Hotel is fine mate and perfect location, bring a iPad and plenty of sweets for the kid

Sorry Ed, its not the best of hotels, but at least somewhere to get your head down.

Travel advice above is all you need.

I just want to say have a great time and I hope your daughter has a brilliant time.

Thank you blues for your kind help. It'll likely be taxi as kids don't like walking lol. It' would be nice added bonus to see De Bruyne unveiled and a 6 nil win so if any of you lovely people could sort that one out for our visit we would be eternally grateful thanks again all

You are really close to Piccadilly Bus Station. 216 bus goes right past the ground and leaves just round the corner from your hotel.

I don't know about City Square as I normally get there late and go straight in but there's a little piece on it on the official site

I suspect it will start from around 1.30pm but a total guess. The City store is next door so you could always go there and take a walk around the ground.

Get up to the ground a couple of hours ahead of ko. Stand near the entrance to the CB stand and watch the team arrive 90 mins before ko. Grab a foot long hot dog, a hot chocolate, watch the bands, look in the shop. Get pics with moonbeam and moonchester outside the ground. Soak up the atmosphere and watch the warm up in the ground.
Enjoy the day blue xx

This is super Marvin, thank you. When I'm over on my own its in early and to the bar lol. But on this occasion wife and kid need entertained, so City Square and a few pints early doors will be the ticket (although no pints for my daughter )

To back up earlier posters, if you are able to change hotels it would be a good move. If you are happy there, I'd recommend getting the tram from Market Street to the ground. The Market Street stop is 30 seconds walk from your hotel and it drops you literally in City Square. My 8 year old nephew loves getting the tram to the game, it will be far more memorable for them than getting a taxi.

Where is it your travelling from pal?

I'd highly recommend the tram from Market Street, right round the corner from your hotel. Just ask someone if it's the one for the Etihad or just follow the other blue shirts!

Get there nice and early mate, have a wander round the city store before it gets too busy, usually a few bouncy castles and the like for the kids outside the store too. Players will arrive on the coach 90 mins before the game so make sure you stand by the grey railings outside the main entrance to the Colin Bell stand to get a good luck.

Enjoy the day, hopefully the weather holds up and we get three points!

Have a good trip and day mate.Hope the little one enjoys her visit. Lots of good advice from fellow blues. I am sure you will not encounter the Gay Pride procession as it is , I think , on the west side of Piccadilly
- Oxford Road - Canal Street area. I read earlier in the week it was on Saturday but it shouldn't affect transport to The Etihad..

You will have a really good time.

Take in some of the Gay Pride activities, not my cup of tea but each to his own - Manchester has always been a welcoming and innovative City that is what makes it so great.

The Canal walk to or from the Stadium on a good day is very interesting, and bus/metro/taxi all do the job.
