Quick Question About The Old Badge

I don't want to open the debate about whether we should go back to the old badge, that's for the many other threads on the subject; but in the official store, they are selling stuff with the old badge on. Now then, if it's the fact that we changed badges because we didn't own the copyright to the old badge, are City paying Eddie Phillips royalties to use the old badge on all this retro wear? Or have they perhaps just ignored that side of it, or maybe they have bought the copyright back?

someone posted a government site on here in regards to the old badge. says when we sold the rights and when we bought them back. think we got it back in 2005
