R.I.P Rick Buckler (the jam)

Feels strange.days after .to have to accept that a unit ,that was part of your life ..has gone.
I feel humbled, as a music lover, reading posts from other blues who understand Drumming, and how good Rick was.The posters who actually met him and spoke to him and shared their thoughts online are really important
I'd basically loved the Jam ,the sound, the vinyl, without ever appreciating the musical acumen behind the band.
Rick appears to have been a special man.
I don't do regrets, but I wish I'd have been there for an early gig of the Jam...I'm still wondering how 3 people made. Such noise,Brilliant noise.
This all means there can be no re union gig.., and that hurts.
No idea of the beef between Paul and Rick,I didn't follow them that closely, just sad that the death came before a chance of any... reconciliation if that's the word.?
Watching the videos.,.takes me back to a Britain I don't recognise anymore
So much raw passion and aggression expression of feeling..,....where the fuck did that go ?
Never got to see The Jam myself but From The Jam are probably the next best thing.

Bringing the Setting Sons album tour to The Ritz in May. Bruce Foxton has been out ill for a while so not sure if he will have recovered in time, but will no doubt be his last tour.

Seems Rick's funeral was last Thursday 27th March. Wow one of my Holy Trinity gone, saw The Jam through the 70's and 80's, absolutely dismayed and confused to hear they were splitting up in '82.

At one point me, my brother and mates saw them 6 times in 8 days, fantastic times.

Met The Jam once at a BBC Saturday morning show called Get Set For Summer, all great.

Lucky enough to see Rick and Bruce play together as The Gift/FTJ in about 2007.

Then saw Paul and Rick at a charity gig in Woking for John Weller's care home about 2010.

I heard a rumour once that there was an potential reunion around the time John Weller and Pat Foxton passed. To the point outfits and backdrops had been discussed, should have happened....

Thank you Rick for showing so many disenfranchised young people we had a voice, we had a future

Rest in Peace
