Racing horse syndicate

Thanks for all the info guys! Just wanted to do it for a bit of a hobby and a couple of trips to the races with an owners badge the one I was looking at guaranteed 2 a year I think.

Was looking at something like £750ish for a 2.5% share with a chance of maybe making my money back but I’m guessing by the comments that’s highly unlikely and I’ll be throwing it away? Haha

Deffo that . I personally have no gripe with JP , he started with nothing took huge chances was brave and learnt all about the game quickly and smartly. Real legend of the sport but now as you say owns the empire along with a couple of business partners. Ireland is actually a whole lot worse than the UK for dominance. Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliot and to a lesser extent Henry de Bromhead own and win everything in Irish NH racing , that said Mullins and de Bromhead are exceptional men , top top class and humble and employ a lot of dedicated people. Elliot is an arse with zero class and has a history of treating his horses badly . The amount of money thrown at these stables by wealthy owners is absolutely staggering and they will all be there in the winner’s enclosure every day at the Cheltenham festival claiming the big prizes .
That's it, and everything that's wrong with the game as there is little to no point in investing your millions into the sport as an owner, knowing you'll never be able to compete with those owners and therefore trainers

It was quite telling, that when Elliott was banned a few years ago, all of his top class horses went to either Mullins or De Bromhead. Basically shows, that money talks and that you can walk straight into another top yard providing you've got the money to back yourself up

Just becomes a complete monolopy, but at the same time you can't argue that the 3 of them are light years ahead this side or the Irish Sea. Nicholls gets a lot of Fergies horses, and Henderson gets the odd JP star, but even they don't tend to hold a light up to anything in Ireland

No worries, the thread has gone slightly off topic but partly my fault as I love talking racing!

If you won't lose sleep over the £ then I'd go for it mate, what's the worst that could happen

As long as you're not expecting too much in return then I'm sure it's a good craic

Henderson currently has the super star in Constitution Hill and maybe Jonbon so the pendulum has swung for Cheltenham this year I think , makes a change ! lol . Going back to low grade Racing our syndicate had a good consistent mare who gave everything in her races and that is the best you can hope for . She won 5 races in 3 years and gave us a great thrill before she was sold on for breeding. She qualified for a big northern final at Carlisle off a mark of 116 and got in as bottom weight in the class 2 event with a top prize of 28K and 14k for 2nd . It rained all week and she loved soft ground , Irish raider Crawford had one in it and it was a heavy ground specialist and got absolutely smashed in betting to 5/4 fav from 5/1 2 days earlier , it absolutely hacked up by 20 lengths. Our girl …….. she ran an absolute blinder and got beat by a head on the line into 3rd ! Luckily (wisely in the know) I had a good bet ew at 22/1 on her . She picked up 8K prize money from a mark of 116 in a class 2 ! Fantastic day indeed. Could go on forever but probably bore every one lol

Flat racing
Best advice I can give you is go for it . You will learn loads quickly especially if you visit the stable as trainers and jockeys are very open with information in their own back yard so to speak . Bet wisely, one big bet can make a season or break it lol

I have a few shares in Hill of Tara (BB RACING CLUB) in training with V Williams.
Stayed on nicely over a short trip in NHF race last year and due to come out over the sticks shortly.
Hopefully, could be quite smart, but, as most are saying - the odds are definitely against us!

I've got an awful feeling the only people who will make any money out of this are the people organising it.
Agree. Why would they want the serfs involved?

If you can afford it and get into the members enclosure at a couple of top meetings and have a bet it's probably a good few days out
