RAF accused of “artificially inflating” diversity numbers

An admission of error:

"The Royal Air Force has for the first time admitted "mistakes were made" with its recruitment practices following a slew of allegations that the service prioritised ethnic minority and female candidates over white men to hit "impossible" diversity targets."

It’s not just them. Other public services are now finding that sometimes you do need the best people for the job and not a daft target.

Thing with it is SKY have built a story on a leaked memo and the version of one single airman about available recruits. Not being funny but New Look to Ocado are struggling to recruit - we have a smaller workforce - as a retiree can I be persuaded to join the RAF as maybe an armourer or in air traffic control? Of course not this is a story about one thing dressed up as being about another

A good example of the road to hell being paved with good intentions. The law was broken because the fine line between positive discrimination and positive action was crossed - hence the resignation of the head of recruitment. All subject to a pending enquiry of course, and I expect the results of which will come out after Sir Mike hands over to a new CAS in the summer.
