Teams sat back for the majority of that 17/18 season and definitely the 18/19 season. You don’t get 100 points and then the next season every team open up against you. 18/19 was Sterling’s best season too (IMO).

You find a way to play with them if you want to, he’s the best coach in the world and isn’t dictated by how teams play against him. If he wanted to be exciting and play with pace and be direct then he would find a way.

He wants control, simple as that and that’s the only reason Grealish and Mahrez (both players I like btw) are playing rather than exciting wingers.
Thats wrong, teams defend very differently against us now than they did in 17/ 18 and 18/19. Pep has adapted to that and continued winning leagues. You can see the same happening to liverpool that space Salah and Mane used to get to run into has gone as teams sit deeper and play on the break more, Unlike Pep I think Klopp is incapable of adapting and controlling games in the way we do.

I think people are confusing pace and acceleration, Leroy could outsprint anyone, but Raz could beat someone in 5-10 yards from a stop start (thats what we are missing right now against the low blocks IMO)
I’d love to see Jeremy Doku under Pep. When Walker leaves, both Lewis and Cancelo will be inverted RBs, so we need someone to keep width in the team, preferably a right footed RW. Doku’s been playing on the right in France. His dribbling and acceleration is incredible, but his finishing is lacking. A lot like a young Raz
